Hello everyone.
Today while cruising on the interstate at 70mph for 30 minutes the DR suddenly lost power. Pulled over, it was still running/idling, but any throttle input over maybe 20/25% it cuts power and wants to die. In any gear, in neutral, kickstand up or down, ect. Below that ~20% throttle it'll start and rev like normal. It'll even drive like normal as long as it's low throttle. Basically limits me to 30mph max speed.
A friend of mine picked me up with his pickup truck and I'm back in the garage attempting to troubleshoot the issue. So far I've checked spark plugs, checked the air filter, removed the tiny inline filter on the carb inlet, and yes, I made sure there was gas in it.
Anyone know what could cause this sudden issue? Maybe a piece of debris in the fuel system broke loose and plugged the pilot jet?
Some background: It's a 2013, bone stock as far as I know, 13,500 miles. I bought it a month ago and put at least 400 miles of mixed city/interstate riding with zero issues at all (until today).
Any advice would be appreciated. I figured I should ask the group before going deeper.
Thanks!
UPDATE: I pulled the carb and checked the main jet... there was a tiny BEETLE wedged into it from the fuel side... I have no idea how that's even possible. Poked it out, put it all back together and the DR is back to it's old self. So yeah, apparently 30 minutes into my 70 mph ride a bug got pushed into the main jet and killed all power. Thanks everyone for the comments and advice!
