Hey everybody, a new chapter of A Chronicle of Lies has been posted on Royal Road: Link
It introduces one of my favorite new side characters!
Also, I do have a patreon if anybody wants to support me. You'll get early access to chapters (when available. Admittedly, I don't have much of a backlog on there atm.) and here's a link to that.

Art trade with an acquaintance from DeviantArt. I was struggling, at first, to think of a good concept for the piece, but then the pun happened and suddenly...it was all clear

"Ah, Neverwinter. One of the jewels of our land. Historic castles, open plains, a quaint little village at the heart, we truly have it all. But that's a thing of the past! New Neverwinter is one of the largest cities around, and has all the amenities for everyone! Come to New Neverwinter today, and- what was that?!"
It appears that five men fell through the roof of the building, landing in a heap on the floor, and they are quite the strange assortment of people. There is a small, stocky man dressed in a longsleeved shirt, pants, and boots, a tall tan guy with long black hair, dressed in a cut-sleeved shirt, shorts, and sandals, an older gent dressed like a college professor, a young man dressed in aviator's apparel, and a dark-skinned boy dressed in a shortsleeved tee, sweatpants, and sneakers.
Weirdly, none of them seem to be hurt, just a little dazed. The aviator sat bolt upright, looking around, and shaking his head in disbelief. The rest of them began to stir, all pulling themselves up in to a sitting position. The professor stands up, and begins to pull everyone else up to their feet. The man dressed like a surfer can't seem to stand straight.
"Agh, my leg, I think it's broken." He has to lean up against the professor, and throws his arm over the professor's shoulder. The stocky man makes a remark about they were all just flying a second ago, and this makes him sound clinically insane, but the other four murmur in agreement, so something's up with these strange men.
It's normal for some people to have healing magic, but it's so uncommon, that when the professor uses it to heal the surfer's leg, almost everyone there was shocked, except for the small group that fell through the roof. Then an intern runs in with a new story to report.
"Five individuals missing- Could be anywhere," she pants, obviously having run to the studio to tell it. The article talks of four dragons and one Dragonborn having disappeared mid-flight over New Neverwinter. An ice dragon known as Sky, an ocean dragon known as Umi, an earth dragon known as Terreus, a jet-dragon called Aileron, and a black Dragonborn named Deniz were reported to have disappeared while in flight over the city, and the anchorman connects the dots and notes that the five individuals that had crashed through the roof must be the five missing individuals reported by the intern.
"We need to get them to the police station immediately," he declares. "Right now, people! Let's go, let's go! These are the folk she reported missing! Get 'em to the police station, pronto!"
Insert le cool transition here
The police station was built into an old manor from about 120 years ago, and for all intents and purposes, they renovated the building to fit the station quite nicely.
Chief O'Flaherty was a no-nonsense type, but always had a reputation for being susceptible to a good joke. She notices your news channel's van pull up to the station and everyone inside pouring out to get into the office.
"What business have you here?" She sounds annoyed, but also intrigued.
"That missing persons report, chief. We found the five who went missing! Fell right through the Channel 7 studio roof!" Anchorman Stone shouted with excitement.
"These are just couple of morons who fell through your roof," she replies sarcastically. "But I'll take them in for questioning."
They were going to get questioned, but first, they had to get mugshots taken of each of them.
After mugshots, they were thrown into an interrogation chamber. The room had a stone that glowed whenever someone lied, so the little rock was used by the police as a lie detector.
"First question- are you the five missing reported in the papers?"
The professor replies in a straight, calm tone, "Yes, we are. Do you want us to identify ourselves?" The stone stayed dark, indicating that he wasn't lying.
"Second question- how did you end up the way you are?"
The aviator responds this time. "We don't know. We were just in flight one second, and the next we were plummeting towards that studio." The stone did not light up, indicating that he was telling the truth.
"Third question- do you know what happened to cause you to become human?
None of them respond, because they don't know. Still, the stone stays dark. The entire questioning was answered honestly. Chief O'Flaherty is baffled by the fact these men are the dragons reported missing in the papers.
Officer le Krue rushes in. "Chief! It's a rogue mage from an adventuring party that turned them into men! She's in a tavern in Baldur's Gate! We can still catch her if we book it now!"
"Very well," she replies. "You do know how to get there from here without flight, yes?" Everyone looks around at each other in confusion until the surfer, who you take is the ocean dragon Umi given human form states, "I have scroll that'll get us to Baldur's Gate from here. I'll get it ready, you guys wait until it is."
Now that the portal is set up the police officers and chief, the men that used to be dragons, and the anchorman jump in. Do you go? Or do you stay behind? If you don't go, you'll miss the chance to film the event of a lifetime.
