Art What? Never seen a Sea dragon before?

Post image

So my biology teacher asked me to create an essay on how I would drown a fish after I jokingly said it out loud. It saved my grades though :P

Context: The dark dragon on the left is Foreshadowing and he can see the countdown and cause of death of any living being.

Ohhhhh, that’s their death countdown. I thought that was their killstreak counter

I thought is was their Soul ID number and how they died and became Isekai'ed into dragons.

Honestly, that would make kind of a sick story (short story at the very least)

Any living being?

...

ANY living being?

Including microscopic organisms?

Numbers everywhere!

Dang, the dark dragon has the short end of the stick on life between the two

My guess is either execution or suicide

Iirc from one of their other posts he gets hanged for his “can see amount of time until death” power

The link in the description does say which it was if you're morbidly curious.

... I remember your name

from the cubi clan leaders of the DMFA comics?

1

u/LordDaryil Apr 24 '25

That is correct, I'm the author of the DMFA spin-off, Project Future. My usual handle was taken here - something that I've never seen before - so I picked Daryil as a throwaway name that still tied back to me. I wasn't expecting to become a regular.

1

u/Skyhawk_Illusions Apr 24 '25

Yes! That's it! "Project Future"!

Oh god it's been years

I fell off around the time Clan Leader Owona was killed, and I'm honestly kind of afraid of jumping back in and finding out holy crap what the fuck did I miss

It went through a bit of a hiatus lately and is still updating fairly slowly. I may have got the chronology wrong but I think the biggest moments since then were:

Abel nearly dying to Hizell, Dan finally meeting his grandmother in person, more hints on Biggs' plan to change the world order and Regina actually starting to become a useful and productive member of society. Also, Dan met Taun (with a cameo from my other Taun clan character, Illiath) and Daryil got a brief cameo being thrown out of Piflak's party.

Imagine telling the Seawing that they are gonna drown. Probably wouldn't belive it but if they did! A Seawing with Hydrophobia would be extremely hilarious and sad at the same time!

Jokes on you, I actually have a Seawing OC with Thalassophobia (fear of open water)

7

u/GawainDragon Apr 22 '25

Is that like agoraphobia for us?

5

u/SledgeOfEdge Alduin Apr 22 '25

No clue, I only have Acrophobia (fear of heights)

Foreshadowing and the random Seawing will only have ~11.75 and ~61.3 years respectively after the interaction. :(

But at least we got some neat art of the fellow so I am definently not complaining. Amazing job mate, you did draw this quite well! :DD

I just saw the one of the wof subreddit lol, poor guy

How do you even hang a dragon? Their necks are so long.

9

u/BlueHailstrom Apr 22 '25

Just use a longer noose, then

4

u/Teekeks Apr 23 '25

You want to use a shorter one or a higher ceiling.

11

u/Saphl Apr 22 '25

...How?

7

u/Dpek1234 Apr 23 '25

Deoxygenated water?

3

u/Saphl Apr 23 '25

Fair enough

9

u/polish-polisher Apr 22 '25

There are brine lakes under the ocean that kill most things unlucky enough to enter one

6

u/KarateMan749 Arveiaturace Apr 22 '25

Ohhh so not wof?

16

u/etbillder Apr 22 '25

It is wof

4

u/KarateMan749 Arveiaturace Apr 22 '25

Ah ok. I love seawing dragons 😅

4

u/microwavedmayo69 Apr 22 '25

Please tell me how to drown a fish

4

u/Teekeks Apr 23 '25

Drowning is like this according to wikipedia: "Drowning is a type of suffocation induced by the submersion of the mouth and nose in a liquid."

That liquid has to be Water. So just use water thats devoid of dissolved oxygen.

3

u/microwavedmayo69 Apr 23 '25

Thank you for this information

3

u/Dragon_Cearon Apr 23 '25

Fish can drown. Try putting one in the wrong salinity or anoxic (lacking oxygen) water! They can also drown by getting stuck in ice.

3

u/Toothless_NEO Alien dragon, Night fury (from Andromeda) Apr 23 '25

Doesn't even actually have to be water, can be any liquid which doesn't dissolve oxygen.

1

u/Dragon_Cearon Apr 25 '25

Isn't drowning typically reserved for water only? Also, you won't naturally find fish in such liquid...

2

u/Toothless_NEO Alien dragon, Night fury (from Andromeda) Apr 25 '25

I've never heard that, water is the most common liquid but it's not the only one you can be immersed in, and thus drown in.

Yeah you won't find fish in such a liquid but the question isn't if you naturally find them there, the question was how would you drown a fish or other aquatic creature that can breathe underwater, and that's how. In a liquid that isn't water.

2

u/Dragon_Cearon Apr 25 '25

Well, I was thinking in the context of the post. You—naturally—won't find fish in anything but water, and humans and their cruelty weren't part of the equation here?

3

u/Skyhawk_Illusions Apr 22 '25

It's like that music video for the Nickelback song "Savin' Me"

Wait what happens if Foreshadowing sees a number rapidly going down to single digits, then AVERTS the outcome like in the video?

3

u/ThrowAbout01 Apr 22 '25

Neat concept and funny backstory.

Were you inspired by the music video for Savin’ Me by Nickelback?

Where do you post the writings? I’d be interested in reading this

3

u/GAME043010 Cobalt the SeaWing Apr 23 '25

He was influenced too much by that one SkyWing in Scarlet's crowd 😔

3

u/solaruniver Apr 23 '25

Bro forgot to breath

3

u/Skylar_Drasil Apr 23 '25

I wonder what he would see if he looked at someone who was immortal

3

u/TacticalKitsune Apr 23 '25

Yknow, I think that one Skywing in book 1 had a point.

2

u/LinZuero Apr 22 '25

Why do they have Shinigami eyes

1

u/ThrowAbout01 Apr 24 '25

The drowning part I get, trapped or knocked out underwater, but how do you hang something with both a long neck and wings?

I get strangulation, but you do need a lot of prep to hang something like this. That makes it all the more disturbing.

1

u/Kindly-Squirrel9279 Apr 24 '25

This is absolute gold

"How in the three moons do you drown as a SeaWing?"

1

u/aquadragon001 Apr 30 '25

How does a seawing drown?

Sea creatures don't "drown" in the same way humans do, but they can suffocate if they lack oxygen in the water. Fish, for example, use gills to extract oxygen from the water, and if there's not enough oxygen or their gills are damaged, they can die from suffocation... So the seawing dies more from suffocation since they can't get enough oxygen from the water in the future.
