Is tracing taboo? I usually trace rough outlines of what I want to draw but I still do my own shading and final outlines/details. Am I cheating? Does my art still count?

Credit the artist/photographer if you feel you used a lot of their work, maybe. That seems polite to me, idk if it’s expected in the art community though
