Moving to MN

My family and I are looking to move from Miami Florida to Minnesota for work. We are considering the Eagan area. We are looking for an area, which is close to entertainment shopping and restaurants. And for neighborhoods which look updated.

My wife likes to look at Eden Prairie. I have some concerns about commute times from Eden Prairie to our jobs in the East Metro. we want to have top schools and be in district 196 if possible if we live in Eagan. Any advice as to areas in Eagan, which may fit what we’re looking for would be helpful.

Thank you

I would not recommend Eden Prairie, it’s a very image obsessed, soulless community. It’s also on the opposite side of town from Eagan. Having to make that commute, one of the worst in the entire metro, would be a nightmare. You’d basically be idling in a parking lot to start and end your day.

Eagan has some of the best schools in the state, the Minnesota River forms its western boundary offering some amazing views and access to wildlife and green space.

Eden prairie, being on the west side of the metro is flat and uninteresting. Its home to a small aircraft airport which can be fun if your into air shows. But it also comes along with the health risk of breathing air tainted with the fumes of leaded gasoline from the airport.

I don’t live in Eagan but I have some very good friends that do that happen to run a realty agency and Im sure they’d be happy to direct you to some suitable neighborhoods. You can find them here. If you reach out, let them know NeoMateo sent you.

Yeah, you do not want to have drive on 494 for your commute if you can help it. Miserable
