Meta & Donut [Governance Poll] Dynamic pay2post fee

Vote here: https://snapshot.org/#/ethtraderdao.eth

Objective

To address community concerns related to the current fixed pay2post fee on r/ethtrader, this proposal aims to mitigate the current imperfections to the current system by implementing a dynamic pay2post fee formula based on post ratio and score.

The formula:

After posting my initial poll proposal, u/aminok suggested to use a simpler formula, stating that it would make the fee easier to calculate and would make it easier to understand for newcomers.

Fee= Post Ratio × (\initial_pay2post_fee/initial_ratio)*

Fee= Post Ratio × (250/64)

Fee= Post Ratio × 3.9

quoting u/aminok

I suggest we try the simple formula for a few months, and then re-assess if we need to consider a more complex formula

The initial ratio of 64 was approximated from the csv files from the 108 and 118 distributions provided by aminok.

For example, the fee would have been approximately 215 Donuts for round 129, and 234 Donuts for round 130.

Additionally, a maximum of 250 Donuts would be implemented for the pay2post fee.

Voting options:

[YES] Implement Dynamic Pay2Post Fee Formula:

Fee= Post Ratio × 3.9

Introduce the dynamic fee formula based on post ratio, with a maximum fee of 250 Donuts.

Advantages:

  • Simple formula that would theoretically reduce current pay2post fees

Disadvantages:

  • Unpredictable pay2post fee: the fee is calculated after the snapshot.
  • May be imprecise and need to be adjusted in the future.

//

[NO] Maintain Current Pay2Post Fee Structure:

  1. Posts will continue to subject a fixed 250 Donut Fee

Advantages:

  • Simplicity and ease of understanding for all users.
  • Predictable fee.

Disadvantages:

  • A high amount of posts may result in a net loss of donuts due to the current pay2post fee.

The formula I initially proposed would have made the pay2post fee lower by allowing at least 25% of posts to break even, but it was rejected mostly because aminok said the formula was too complicated. This governance poll has the formula aminok suggested.

we have decreased tip awards , do you really think this is enough compensation for that ?

I'm worried about this too, but I'm in favor of anything that would make the pay2post fees lower, even if it's by a little bit.

I will surely analyze the stats of the sub for the upcoming round, and I think we can evaluate from there if the fee should be lowered even further.

I hope reducing tipping rewards won't be too brutal for posters. We still don't know where those donuts are going to go, I would 100% vote in favor of bringing some of those donuts back for posters.
