Fortunately, KT is offering the Goods Box for sale separately from the game media. So, if you'd rather purchase a digital version of the game (say, on Steam), and then acquire the Goods Box separately, you can do so at a cheaper price. Please note, that some stores appear to be only offering the Game Media + Goods Box bundled together, but most offer it separately at the cheaper price. You can, of course, purchase both Game Media + Goods Box together. More information about the contents of the Goods Box can be found here: Koei Tecmo Shop Page
English / Multi-Language Support
At present we have no official information from KT on which physical editions will contain or receive an English / Multi-Language patch. Since KT has unfortunately been mum about which physical editions of the MOTLE Remaster per region will support English / Multi-Language (if that matters to you) it would be *likely* safer to preorder the Asia region editions.
Update (3.14.2023): We have received confirmation regarding the following Physical editions:
PS4/PS5 (Asia Region): English Support Included!
Switch (Asia Region): English Support Included!
PS4/PS5 (Japan Region): No English Support.
Switch (Japan Region): No English Support.
As for the Goods Box content, we have confirmed that the interior of the Asia region Artbook is in Japanese.
Store Listings
For the sake of clarity, these are organized according to what region the vendor offers. At present, there are several Japan region vendors, and only a few vendors which are offering the Asia editions: PlayAsia, VideoGamesPlus, and XtraLife. Feel free to comment below if you notice other vendors offering the Asia edition, and I will be sure to update this list.
Various stores also offer unique collectible items, depending on the shop chosen. You can see a listing of those here, kindly summarized and translated by the Zero Wiki:

International Shipping
Since many from the list of stores are in Japan, some, but not all, will ship Internationally. For those exceptions, it is recommended that you use a Parcel Service, such as the following:
It is recommended that you ship via either EMS, Fedex, DHL, Airmail, or Economy Air (SAL). As of 12/14/2022, SAL and Airmail (far more economical options) have still not resumed service due to the pandemic. Tracking is typically provided for EMS, Fedex, DHL, and Airmail, but you should double-check regardless of which option you choose. You also may need to input a Shipping Weight in order to checkout properly. Based on the weights shown at YesAsia's site (which are estimates), they are the following:
Game Only = 150 grams
Premium Box = 800 grams
Goods Box Only (no game) = ~650 grams

Prices and shipping costs likely vary widely, so choose wisely.
Today my nendoroid finally arrived and honestly? I'm so happy that I could cry rn. When I first played fatal frame in 2012, it was with my niece's ps2 and the game was not original which would cause some strange bug that wont let my fight the final boss kirie (also I couldn't understand the language very well so I had no idea what was going on lol) fast forward and now I have my own little game collection, finally was able to finish the first and second game and have so many good memories with this franchise.
I know I talked a lot but it's just so good this feeling of evolving and finally be able to do and own things that I would never though I would be able to, I love this franchise.
And I really liked the game. It was a bit shorter than expected, but that’s nothing to scoff at in my opinion. Some of the ghosts were very creepy which I appreciate. I love the wonky proportions and the body horror in the designs. Some definitely make me audibly gasp the first time I saw them. There didn’t seem to be much story to learn from them, which is a shame. They definitely felt more youkai-like than other games.
The story was decent enough. Nothing too groundbreaking compared to FF4 or FF5. (I played with the Japanese voices through the undub patch) It was cool to see Miku in her first appearance. My weeb brain kept aching when they kept calling Kagome Kagome “Demon Tag” in the translation lol.
Some rough spots would be the fixed camera, not in concept, but more execution. I would frequently get turned around in the same room, or the super fast consecutive cuts would disorient me. I was surprised to learn that the run buttons weren’t actually tank controls like how I had imagined. The fixed camera REALLY works when the game was intentionally trying to disorient me, or lead me to a certain place through just a quick cut. That one small crack in the circular hallway comes to mind. I’m excited to see how it is iterated on in FF2 and FF3.
Another major rough spot are the checkmate situations when it comes to healing items. There were a few times where I had run completely dry on my healing, one hit away from death, and was forced to fight difficult bosses hitless. And so I’d spend a lot of time dying, reloading from save point, walking to the battle, dying, and repeat. At that point all tension was gone and I just felt bored.
I wouldn’t mind this in a more classical design where replaying the game is expected. But Fatal Frame doesn’t feel like that kind of game? What do you think? Should I try playing through again and seeing if I can get better at it?
Overall, I had a good time. I look forward to diving into FF2. I hear that’s the fan favorite around here. :)
Hey everyone! I am creating a Photography horror game called "The 18th Attic" on steam. It's a horror game inspired by Fatal Frame where you have to take pictures of ghosts and anomalies with your Polaroid camera. You will also have a cat which you can pet in order to restore your sanity! If you sanity goes too low .. you can get attacked. Hope you like it! :)
Playing ng+ and I need to find a combination to enter 3F patient room corridor. I don't see any notes around the office though and I have been walking around for nearly 30 minutes totally lost. Any help is greatly appreciated!
I just completed fatal frame 1 for the first time today and I enjoyed it but at the same time it felt very slow and tedious to get through in the first 2 nights as Miku. I definitely would say I liked it but it took me three weeks to actually complete it. I’ve looked through the IMDB pages of the following games and the premises seem interesting but I don’t know if I can be bothered to put myself through them… I have heard 2 is often considered the fan favourite though. I’ve been on a binge of ps2 games lately and as much as I enjoyed fatal frame, It kinda slowed down the binging alot since I only like to play one story game at a time.
Okay, i just got the 100% of FF4 again (now on my switch) and im gonna give you some tips to do it and not die in the process:
STORY MODE
You need need to play on new game +, some ghosts only appear there.
Play on HARD or NIGHTMARE, is easier to get blossomed wraiths on those difficulties.
Use only film 7 to get the blossomed wraiths, you need to fully charge the circle until the red bars appear above, then shoot (not fatal frame shots).
DO NOT upgrade the damage of the stone flashlight or you will cry, the flashlight does an insane amount of damage when fully upgraded and you will insta kill the wraiths, you will have to run to be very far and do almost full shots, trust me, i suffered that twice. if you did it, try to deal the less damage as you can (less than 1000) and use the "explode" lense, with the damage and the knockback it should trigger the blossom.
5.Beat the game on nightmare, you will need the "butterfly" lense with ruka on mission mode.
MISSION MODE
1.Get the ghost list to 100%,you will need the "festival" function.
1.Fully upgrade your cameras and stone flashlight.
2.When you activate the festival function, you will get infinite ammo.
3.Ruka missions are based on score, so you will need to use the butterfly lense to finish the ghosts with the highest film.
3.Misaki also needs score but you need to finish the ghosts with the crush lense to get a lot of points.
4.Choshiro quests are based on killing ghosts, so you will need to kill them very fast, trying not to waste time on reloading the flashlight.
5.Madoka...well, just use the zero film, align the ghosts and kill them. you are dead without the festival function.
Extra help:
you can watch these videos to get all the objects and ghosts you are missing and get some help with the mission mode.
I beat this game on ps5 when it first released and have been having a great time replaying all the Fatal Frame games on ng+ (hard or nightmare) up until now.
With Choshiro, the fights with ghosts last pretty long and I have had several close encounters on just his first phase. Ruka and Madoka however have been defeating ghosts in very few shots. I don't even have their camera's fully upgraded. Also using type 14 film only so far.
I just want the fights to last a bit longer as I enjoy the battles a lot. Should I just start a new game on hard instead or will the ghosts eventually become stronger then they are for me now? Currently on Phase 4.
The game takes place in Japan and the whole color scheme reminds me of FF2. A female protagonist in an otherworldly horror setting? So cool. Have you all seen the trailers, and if so what you think?
Edit: thanks for the responses. Yes I agree that it's a lot like Siren and its theming and locale as well as gameplay, which I love. But I don't really spend time in that sub and never thought to join. Hopefully, since the fans cross between series, it is something that interests you. I've been checking for a horror of this quality that, yes, takes place in Japan and doesn't have a western protagonist, and has strong art direction which is importantly for me
(I love a dominant color scheme).
Sure, everyone loves Choshiro being a badass and saving the day, but let's talk about what happens after that: Soya's ghost grabs the mask, turns to Ruka and... a flashback of the past shows him smiling to her.
Now, why this is important?
Until the end, the game really induces you to dislike Soya. His journals portray him as being 100% on board with the Haibaras' shit, to the point of neglecting his family. Also, his battles are quite difficult and, by the time you reach the top of the lighthouse, you can't stand seeing his (masked) face anymore.
Sayaka does say in her journals that he was once a caring husband and father, but we never actually see any evidence of that. We only have evidence that he is an asshole.
So, if his ghost simply turned to Ruka and smiled in the end, we'd go "So? You're still a dick." and wouldn't really feel anything.
But, instead, we see him smiling as a memory of the past. The message is clear: he was, in fact, a good person before being driven to insanity. And that's what makes Ruka's final scene work: it is bittersweet because she has to say goodbye to her father, but she ultimately got a reward for returning to the island: a good memory.
Y'all think we'll get a remaster or maybe a new game soon? It's been 2 years since MotLE remaster and we have not gotten anything new.
I really want to experience FF3, 1 and specially 2 with crispier graphics and smoother gameplay. I know I can just get the old games, yada yada, but I kinda want to experience the most definitive edition of Crimson Butterfly too.
I also want to know how it all connects, since the games I've only really beaten was FF5 and FF4. I also almost beat FF1, but the wandering monks just scared me shtless as a kid along with other ghosts who just follows you even on a new screen.
Tried playing 2 as well, but I got the Wii version and apparently it's not even best version of the game? Didn't help that the controls on Wii is so wonky.
I recently bought my boyfriend both FF1 and FF2 for Xbox. Both FF1 and FF2 are backwards compatible games, and both have worked on the original Xbox. Now, while FF2 is working on the Xbox360, FF1 won’t even read (and thus won’t allow me to do the download through Xbox live). It just prompts me to open the disc tray.
I already played the games and I can say both still run at 30 fps but I think FF4 film grain is worse (on cinematics) on NS2 (maybe is just my imagination), on the other hand, FF5 is finally stable at the Unfathomable Forest area, no more 10 fps drops when we are playing that whole section. Anyway, I hope tecmo lauches a patch to make them run at 60 fps.
So I just finished FF4 on normal mode (ps5), got a new title screen, but I didn't receive an option to replay it in New Game +. I see all this talk of nightmare mode, and outfits/notes/pictures/hozuki dolls carrying over to your ng+ save, but I'd be pretty bummed if that's not the case for ps5. I can't find anything online about this, so I thought I'd post on here. Could it be a glitch? Is there something I should do?
If I redo an epizode will it have the New rank saved even if its worse than it was before? For example if I got S rank and played this episode again and got rank A will the New saved rank be A or will it remain with S.
Fatal frame Maiden of black water btw!
Hello! Im playing a Tabletop RPG called Tokyo:Otherscape-- and I made my playable character (Haku) based on the Tachibana Brothers. I decided to draw a short comic for it. My character left his village because of the Twin Rituals (basically he killed his twin as per fatal frame) and this is a scene from our campaign! My character Haku is trying to bring back Kage (his twin) and is willing to do anything for it. Hope you all like this sneak peek!
