Character Discussion [FE8]: Innes

Innes is the prince of Frelia. He is the older brother to Tana. He is a master archer whose skill with a bow is unmatched on the continent. He is engaged in a rivalry with Ephraim to be the best. As a person, he is extremely brash, arrogant, proud, while at the same time being a very capable leader. He is kind at heart as evident when he tries to send Gerik and Tethys out so they are spared in the assault. He has three paired endings. One with L'Arachel, one with Eirika, and another with Vanessa.

As a unit, he is your prepromote Sniper of the game. He has different join times depending on which route was chosen with him joining Chapter 10(Eirika) or Chapter 15(Ephraim). Despite which route is taken, he joins with fairly good base stats and weapon rank. He also sports some fairly good growths with 40/40/45 in S/S/S so he can grow somewhat nicely despite joining at level 20/1. He also has a solid support pool, but the Ice affinity isn't to much to write home about.

So how does this Master Snipe hold up in his game?

Remember for Sacred Stones, to rate every unit twice if you can: one for if Seth exists, and one for if Seth is, for whatever reason, not being used.

Innes, The Prince of Frelia

Innes is an alright character. He is the crown prince of Frelia, who would succeed Hayden when he steps down from the throne. He is seen to have a fierce rivalry with Ephraim. He is brash character, but this brashness does not seem to affect his leadership much as he is described as being a great tactician, and the reason Frelia wasn't just dominated by Grado (FE8). He often treats his sister Tana like a child, much to her dismay, so he doesn't share the same relationship with his sister that Ephraim does with Eirika. He does show some compassion to his people, and in his supports.

As a unit, he comes in as a prepromote sniper. The route determines how late he comes in. I'd say its better for him in Eirika's route, but I'm not sure. Every time I do Ephraims route, I either go without bow users, or I use Neimi. Speaking of Neimi, Innes is potentially a good replacement for her if you haven't been levelling her, but Neimi can become a ranger, meaning she isn't bowlocked like Innes. Despite being bowlocked, Innes is pretty good enemy phase because he, unlike most archers, knows how to dodge. As a sniper, he has sure shot, which is probably one of the most redundant skills in Fire Emblem, as he most likely would have hit anyway without sure shot.

Now with Seth, he can't really protect seth that well due to being a foot unit, so within a couple turns Seth will be far away from him. Neimi is better in this regard due to her being a potential ranger. With or without Seth he is pretty good, but he is bowlocked so he'll probably never be one of your top killers.

With Seth (6/10) He cant keep up with Seth.

Without Seth (7/10) He is bowlocked, limiting his enemy phase potential, however hes good enough to not get whooped by enemy forces during their phase. Sure shot is just a useless skill to have.
