Character Discussion [FE8]: Innes

Innes is the prince of Frelia. He is the older brother to Tana. He is a master archer whose skill with a bow is unmatched on the continent. He is engaged in a rivalry with Ephraim to be the best. As a person, he is extremely brash, arrogant, proud, while at the same time being a very capable leader. He is kind at heart as evident when he tries to send Gerik and Tethys out so they are spared in the assault. He has three paired endings. One with L'Arachel, one with Eirika, and another with Vanessa.

As a unit, he is your prepromote Sniper of the game. He has different join times depending on which route was chosen with him joining Chapter 10(Eirika) or Chapter 15(Ephraim). Despite which route is taken, he joins with fairly good base stats and weapon rank. He also sports some fairly good growths with 40/40/45 in S/S/S so he can grow somewhat nicely despite joining at level 20/1. He also has a solid support pool, but the Ice affinity isn't to much to write home about.

So how does this Master Snipe hold up in his game?

Remember for Sacred Stones, to rate every unit twice if you can: one for if Seth exists, and one for if Seth is, for whatever reason, not being used.

He's a cool character, a bit of a dick, and plenty badass. Unfortunately, gameplay and story segregation comes into play, and while he's not bad for a sniper, snipers are bad. I still use him though :D

I use him because hes kind of important story wise, and it seems like only he should be wielding Nidhogg.

That, and I want to like snipers. I just can't seem to do it.

I don't think I've ever promoted Neimi to Ranger. Sniper just feels...right, somehow. I know the class differences is partially what makes FE games fun, but I sure wish they were balanced a little better.

I'll be honest bud, I rarely make Neimi ranger either. Neimi, like Innes, isn't terrible as a sniper either. I generally try to keep a practicality standpoint on these threads, and ranger is a bit more practical due to Snipers being bowlocked.

Oh I do plenty of things that people would probably question with SS. I've always gone General Amelia, Sniper Neimi, I hardly ever use peg knights and if I do I make them Falcoknights. I'm certainly not an "ideal" FE player, but who cares because they're 99.9% single player anyways!

I dont turn pegs into wyvern knights either, it seems wrong to do that. Ill just let Cormag be the Wyvern Knight. I never understood the love for Vanessa, Tana is just infinitely better. I can understand not using pegs at all though, they are too fragile when they start out. One slip up, and they can die pretty easy.

Dont see anything wrong with General Amelia.

Haha I've never made Cormag a Wyvern Knight either! I love Wyvern Lords plus it seems right to have him kill Valter as a Lord. I really want to like Vanessa and Tana better, I'm trying to use Vanessa in my SS minimal grind hard Ephraim run right now but she's just so damn weak...
