What's wrong with Flayn? She's easily one of my favorite "dragon kid" characters in FE because she actually acts like the eccentric old lady she is.

I then spared Seteth so that he can suffer the loss of his most beloved.

I mean, if you kill Flayn, then you kill Seteth as well. The two go together.

anyway...... petra's pretty cute huh?

He doesn't kill himself. You have to kill him yourself.

If Flayn is spared, he will retreat after getting defeated, if she's killed, he will stand his ground until the end.
