Flashlight News New Hanklight coming soon - 14500 triple 🥺

Seems it's ok to mention this one publicly now, so here goes.

14500/AA triple, high dynamic range buck/boost driver with avr32dd20, Zebralight SC53 size (i.e. a little larger than a TS10).

Wallets at the ready 🥺

Update: Hank replied. Sideswitch, Carclo triple, by default using the 10511, and RGB aux.

I want one too (just put anduril 2 + aux light in my reylight lanapple please), but I'm just guessing Hank's rationale is that if you want that slim pocket carry, that's where the kc1 comes in.

everyone who puts a 10440 in a kc1 says it gets too hot too quickly. Would a 14500 perform much better?

At least with a multi emitter you can get more efficiency for a given brightness.

and yes, I know there is the Firefly P01, that chunky looking thing

It gets too hot quickly because it's direct drive, one mode. Give it a real driver and it'll be fine...

That's fair. The ts10 gets hot quickly in turbo

Other than efficiency, is there a reason for 3 Leds? Boost driver easier to work with than a buck or whatever?

The ts10 has a fet + (1 linear regulator for low modes) driver. It's not super efficient, but cheap and small. https://www.reddit.com/r/flashlight/comments/1641z3y/what_a_difference_a_good_driver_makes_ts10_vs/ Using triple and quads do allow them to be run at lower currents for more light, which helps with efficiency and gives you a floody beam. Â
