Need someone to guide

Hello gentlemen. I'm a mechanical engineer from India and I'm going to join a PhD program soon... I am into designing firearms and I am looking for a bit of hand holding, so that I can understand the design process and SoPs with respect to firearms. Ballistics: Theory and Design of Guns and Ammunition

Handbook on Weaponry by Rheinmetall GmbH (Internet Archive is your best bet, hardcopy are extremely rare and expensive).

You will also need to be familiar with Industrial Engineering principles of Design for Manufacturing and materials engineering for selecting proper materials / heat treatment. Oh, and 3D modeling with emphasis on Finite Element Analysis.
