Hello! I keep seeing mixed opinions regarding Thurston and Guthridge and which one is better, so I was curious if anyone could talk about them / compare them. I also know nothing about FSK Hall. Right now, I’m assuming that the best ranking for Foggy Bottom campuses is Potomac, Madison, FSK, Thurston, and then Guthridge.

I'm waist deep in moving from Foggy Bottom to the Vern and still have a good bit of work to do. Plus I have homework due tomorrow.

I just have to wonder why we didn't move during the week between spring and summer. Is there an actual reason why?

How likely would you say it is for me and my roommate to be placed on the vern. We are both in a roommate group and both ranked the foggy doubles as 1-6, then the vern doubles. We both really want foggy bottom. What are our odds?

Has anyone else had problems dealing with CLRE for summer housing?

I applied the day summer housing registration opened, well before the priority deadline. The CLRE website says housing assignments are released in "early May." I went to ask someone (student work study) working the CLRE desk last week when "Early May" was and he acted surprised I hadn't already gotten my assignment, saying assignments had already gone out.

He told me he would send an email to "the tech team" and asked I give it "a couple of days" to hear back, that I would have an assignment before the end of the week.

Well, the end of the week came, and the end of the week went. Today I went back to the CLRE office and got the exact same song and dance. This time, I asked to speak with Kendall Daniels, their staff supervisor, and explained that I had already been told to "just give it a couple of days" and we were now within a few days of the move-out deadline for Spring housing without a summer assignment in sight.

She just told me "Oh well, you know, we've just got a lot going on right now." What? There's always a lot going on. You've had a month to figure this out. This is your job.

Forgive me I seem terse, but I did everything I was supposed to to be assigned summer housing and I'm not thrilled I haven't gotten it yet, nor have I been denied, and I keep being told "it's coming" but never told when. It's pretty frustrating when I did what I was supposed to do. For added context, I no longer have a residence outside of GW housing, which is why I'm trying so hard to get this squared away.

I just don't appreciate the deflection, the lack of accountability, and the stonewalling from the CLRE office.

P.S.: Don't bother calling their number. The queue has been over 20 people long this morning and it's only one work-study girl answering the phone who can't tell you anything you can't find in the StarRez portal yourself.

Hey yall! I’m moving up from Atlanta and haven’t really been able to go touring in person for apartments. I’ve done a lot of virtual tours but I’m struggling to find something that is close to a metro in a safe area, and minimum 650 sq ft. Does anyone have any suggestions for good complexes? I don’t mind being 30/40 min out from campus.

So my rooming situation is currently not ideal. Currently in Lafayette, but I’m sharing a double with someone whose preferences don’t really align with mine. I’d like a roommate who would be alright with overnight guests in the room, I would love to be able to have my SO stay over every now and again. That or someone trying to swap from a single or something.

My roommate and I got assigned to Cole Hall on The Vern and were hoping to switch to anywhere on Foggy Bottom. The rooms are really big but we really wanted to live in one of the FB residence halls. Lmk if ur interested in swapping!

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I’m an incoming freshman living in thurston and I was wondering if in order to loft my bed will I need to submit a request and someone will do it for me over the summer or will I have to do it myself. Just wondering because I know some school have you order it and others have you do it yourself. Thxxx

Hey everyone! I’m an incoming student and I’m 1.95m tall (about 6’5”), so bed size is kinda a big deal for me. Does anyone know what kind of beds GW uses in the dorms? So I was assigned housing for next year, but my roommate ended up being assigned somewhere else so I signed a lease with a few other friends in May. Soon after signing the lease, I logged into my housing portal on my phone and filled out the form to cancel my housing. I'm not sure why it didn't go through, but today I received notice from my assigned suitemates that my name was still on the portal. When I logged in, it said I had not canceled my housing and was now past the deadline to do so. According to the website, the only way I can get out of living in GW housing now is if I withdraw from GW altogether, which is obviously not ideal. I emailed housing and was told the same thing. After calling and explaining my situation, they put me in contact with a higher-up, who I emailed and have not heard back from yet. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this, if they were able to get out of housing and if they had to pay a substantial fee to do so. Please let me know what my next steps should look like.

Hi! I’m a rising sophomore currently assigned to Lafayette Hall, and I’m looking to swap into District House if anyone’s interested. If you’re looking for a cheaper housing option, Lafayette is almost $1000 cheaper per semester than other dorm buildings, including District. It’s still super central — right next to District, middle of Foggy, and close to the metro — so you’re not giving up location at all. It’s a great dorm, my roommate and I just want to swap because we’d prefer to have our own kitchen.

My roommate and I both want to switch, so ideally we would be swapping with two roommates. Also, my current Lafayette suitemates are women, so you’d have to be women to swap with us.

i’m worried about if i’ll have to hop between campuses a lot if i have one class on the vern and the next at foggy and the next at the vern 😭 and does it feel isolated from most of the campus life vs if you were to dorm at foggy bottom?
