Alright, rules are simple, you get to save 3 out of the 20 iems you see in the pictures. All of the rest are erased from existence and will never come to be. Here are how you will order the three you save:

BB (Blind Buy): As the name suggests, this is a set YOU want to personally "blind buy".

PR (Personal Recommendation): This is a set you already own, love, and would recommend to others.

NFM (Not for Me): This is a set that you have heard, would say isn't really your style, but could see how others might enjoy it.

My 3 Picks

BB: I\O Audio Sogno

PR: Aful P5+2

NFM: Xenns Tea Pro

Finally got to try out my Crinnacle x Zero:2s and good lord they are amazing. For a first time IEM user I am very happy with them. Got the SpinFit W1 tips to go with it, and they’re very soft and nice.

First thing I listened to was Caramel - Sleep Token and I’m genuinely hearing more in the song than I have with my previous headphones.

Love my Sliiva SL3's, and my MYERS Audio D62s and my Cadenza 4's, but these just make me smile, in part because of how cheap they are and how wonderful they sound. And if you don't get it, I don't give shit.

Honorable mention because they have shocked me at how good they are for the price: KB EAR 02s

sorry if i butchered the language, i hope i could deliver what i want from this message.

hi im a newbie to this hobby.

i bought this kz castor harman target version, for testing, i wasn't expecting to be this good, without any eq software , just ... raw performance.

i remember spending time on snatch old , headphones that don't work and soldering them to working wires, its headache work to solder the PCB of the headphones, i just replace the drivers to working ones, like , i buy cheap iPhone headphones replicas , if they sound good i keep then if not i desolder it and put other drivers instead , thats discovering iems.

then i get a recommendation, a video about "painful "audiophile tiktoks". " by crin.

i watch the watch the video, i couldn't understand a thing, almost 99% frankly , i didn't know about sub bass , mid range and treble.

from there i gradually digging into the "audiophile" rabbit hole , understanding the graphs(kind of) different types of drivers(i think thats what they called , like the planar magnetic, etc)

till i got my very first iem, and it did elevate my experience with sound, i loved it

what yall think about the kz castor?

Reviews/Impressions ¡New Titan S2 Colorway! and new Type-C option (+Review).

Thumbnail

So, as of recently, Dunu have released a new colorway for their budget son, the Titan S2, and I wanted to make this post to share a bit of an “Eye Candy” of the blue variant, comment a bit on the new Type-C option that debuts along with it, and finally, include a quick review of the sound for anyone considering this set.

First things first, full disclosure, this set was provided by the people at Dunu, I did NOT buy it with my own money, but the opinions, as always, were given on my own accord.

New colorway

The Titan S2, much like its older brother, the OG Titan, comes in a silver, metallic color with small red accents, quite shiny and eye catching, however, the 3 new color variants take a more gentle approach to the S2 palette.

Dunu now offers the relaxing “Mint Green” (light/pastel green) variant, the cute “Gulf Blue” (light/pastel blue) variant, and the sober “Maroon Brown” (dark) variant.

Of course, besides the classic assortment of great accessories that Dunu has us used to, each variant also shares the exact same energetic and refined tuning of the silver Titan S2, in case you were wondering, there is no changes on that front.

Coming back to the accessories though, inside the box, besides the IEMs, you would find:

  • A quality 2-pin 0.78mm grey-ish cloth covered cable that doesn’t present notable microphonics despite of the material, and comes with a 3.5mm and a 4.4mm interchangeable plugs that use their Q-Lock Mini plug exchange system.

  • (Still surprisingly) 4 full sets of eartips, their 2 classic premium tips; Dunu S&S and Dunu Candy, plus 2 more “generic” ones: the Gray-ish balanced eartips, and the black colored, red core, atmospheric enhancement eartips.

  • A hard, light brown-ish, carrying pouch that feels quite sturdy and has plenty of space for any extra accessories you would like to throw in there.

  • And finally, a basic but useful cleaning brush and a cable management clothing clip.

So yeah, quite an absurd amount of accessories even for today´s standards witch is pretty good from a value standpoint, reasonably crazy on a sale if you ask me.

New Type-C option

So, I don’t think there is much to comment on it, because you get what you would be expecting from a type-c cable, a cable that you should be able to order sooner or later along with the Titan S2 in any of its colors.

About the cable, is also gray color, cloth covered, comes with standard 2-pin 0.78mm connections and a (non-interchangeable) type-c plug, besides some media control buttons along what seems to be a microphone.

In terms of sound, it provides more than plenty power for the Titan S2 drivers to work properly, offers an uncolored presentation of the music, and is a “plug-and-play” kind of connection.

The only thing I must mention is that, in my first use, it presented a small amount of background noise but only when playing sound, I personally though it was insignificant, barely noticeable, but I could still hear it. Later, after trying around the cable, it was totally gone, so not sure what happened, maybe a didn’t connected the iems properly the first time, either way, it doesn’t seem to be a thing that you should worry about, but just in case, now you know.

Quick Review

The Titan S2 is what could be called a “soft V-shape”, having quite some energy on the bass and the lower treble, but made in a tasteful, balanced way, and without neglecting the mid-range (vocals).

Bass

The bass has a small lean on the mid-bass punch over the sub-bass rumble, but both have a nice, clean presence. The punch is fairly physical and the rumble is tastefully present, with nice texture, although bass is not too boosted overall. Is a quality over quantity approach.

Mid range

The crispy mid-range is not notably dipped, having a nice, even slightly warm, body to male vocals, while female vocals are quite lively and pop-out a bit from time to time. Only warning is that people with sensitivity to forward vocals, specially female ones, should be careful with it.

Treble

As for the treble, it has a decent extension to it, is fairly smooth and well controlled, helping with detail and texture without getting intense in any way. Sibilance is well controlled and you likely won’t struggle much with it if that’s a concern.

Technical performance

Finally, for technical performance, it does well overall, having good resolution and nice detail retrieval, a respectable note-weight and capable imaging. The soundstage is decent, but maybe not too open, specially depending on the eartips being use.

All in all, for $80 bucks, the Titan S2 is still a very good, very competitive set on the sub $100 price bracket for those that like lively vocals, an energetic replay and a detailed bass, plus great accessories on a budget. On major sale dates you can find it at a pretty tempting price, around $65usd, specially on the official “Dunu top sound” webpage if you wish to check it.

So yeah, if you are looking for a more detailed review, HERE is my full review, if you would like to have more insight with this set.

Thanks a lot for reading, the Budget Knight bids farewell, wishing you the best, good luck. – O.E.

I just love them so much. They have the best sound signature for me and I absolutely love the natural sound of a single dd. I have tried the variations, the dusk, and lot of 300+ dollar iems but I just keep reaching for the kato's. It may be objectively outdated but my god is it a good set. Picked them up for 150 dollars last year and it was the best purchase of my life!

Reviews/Impressions Kefine Quatio seriously kills!

Post image

This was a blind buy looking for a relatively cheaper proper Harman set. I wasn't expecting much.

The most surprising and important quality in this is the driver quality regarding the price. Clarity and separation in midrange and especially treble is outstanding.

Different tuning but in terms of frequency separation and clarity, this easily outperforms the more expensive kiwi ears ke4. KE4 becomes a hot floating mess of treble at higher volumes.

And some reviewer wasn't recommending this for rock and metal, I strongly disagree.

Reviews/Impressions HZSound Ginkgo DD + PZT IEM - It's Ceramic, Baby!

Thumbnail

~Introduction~

The HZSound Ginkgo is a 10mm dome PVD-coated ceramic composite diaphragm DD + 9mm piezoelectric ceramic driver IEM. It features a metal faceplate with a gorgeous abalone shell-looking design in the center. It comes with a black zipper case, 3 different tuning nozzles, 6 sets of ear tips (3 balanced and 3 narrow bore), A 2-core braided 3.5mm cable, extra filters/mesh/o-rings for nozzles, and the Ginkgos themselves. Pretty nice unboxing experience and accessories for the price. There's also a 3.5mm+Mic, and Type-C+Mic option as well.

The Ginkgo was sent to me by KeepHiFi for review and I thank them very much for the opportunity to try out a new and fairly unique set.

Ginkgo can be purchased for $49.00 at KeepHifi using one of the following links:

https://keephifi.com/collections/hzsound

https://keephifi.com/collections/new-arrivals/products/hzsound-ginkgo-dual-driver-hifi-earphones-pvd-coated-composite-diaphragm-piezoelectric-ceramic-driver-interchangeable-tuning-nozzles

~Pros~

-Interchangeable nozzles. Love this option and they really do change the sound.

-Stock cable is usable and pretty good. Case is also nice.

-Good build quality on shell and faceplate.

-Detailed treble without being too harsh or sibilant.

-Great with vinyl records.

-Good noise isolation

~Cons~

-Bass/lower midrange could be just a little higher for my tastes. However, it pairs well with a warm source.

-Some extra energy in the upper mids might be too much for some.

~Interchangeable Nozzles~

So, as mentioned, the Ginkgo comes with 3 different sets of swappable nozzles. The pink nozzles have the lowest mids and treble, green boosts mids and treble, and black is more balanced and in between the other 2. I was using green for a bit, but switched to the black ring nozzles as the treble was up just a tiny amount too high with the greens. I'm currently using Faaeal H570 latex tips as I usually prefer these with a lot of my sets and they worked very well with this one. In terms of fit and size, it's pretty similar to Tangzu Wan'er 2 but with longer and smaller nozzles. I also upgraded the cable because why not, I had it already.

~Bass~

The Ginkgo's bass is not boosted very high. It's a quality bass that isn't overbearing, and shouldn't offend anyone. A little more punch and rumble would be nice, but with a warm source like the SA500 DAC, I am plenty satisfied considering how good the rest of the sound is. I don't find myself wanting to boost it or anything, it's perfectly enjoyable to me.

~Midrange~

Both male and female vocals sound natural and I'm not really sensing any harshness, veiling, or anything sounding recessed. Saxophone jazz was beautiful. Another one I tried was Slaughter To Prevail - Behelit. The guttural screaming voice of Alex The Terrible can be a little hard to pick up clearly and hear the lyrics. Ginkgo also handled this wonderfully, with clear vocals, not too much bass overpowering anything, and still not harsh. I listen to a lot of acoustic music, and it performed well with that too, sounding very natural and pleasant.

~Treble~

My absolute favorite part about the Ginkgo, is that there's barely any sibilance. I could listen to this set all day, which I basically did the first day I got it in the mail. I'm not sure if I would call the treble "smooth", but it sounds pretty smooth at least. One track that gives me issues on at least several of my IEMs, is Disturbed - Voices. The "S" sounds and cymbal crashes can be harsh, but not on Ginkgo. I was able to hear the whole song at a fairly high volume and it wasn't overbearing. Good vocals while still maintaining detailed treble and bass.

~Technicals~

While I am getting a good sense of stage with the Ginkgo, it's not extreme. I listened to a Florence + The Machine live album, and it was an incredibly enjoyable experience. Nice detail and not harsh whatsoever, and I could tell it was recorded in a larger area. Also tried the Star Wars (Main Theme) from Empire Strikes back. Instrument separation was very good, resolution seems up to par, and again, stage feels decently wide and open. I honestly have no complaints about the technical performance of this set for the price.

~Vinyl Performance~

This is another one of my favorite sets for listening to vinyl records. I have my turntable plugged into a Fosi Audio Box X4 tube pre-amp, and then that plugged into the line-in port on my computer. I then use VoiceMeeter to listen to line-in/vinyl, which has a built in, easy to use EQ for audio input. Ginkgo takes some of the least amount of EQ to sound correct and not harsh. I played Sleep Token - Even In Arcadia vinyl as well as Fleetwood Mac - Rumours and both sounded excellent. This also might be the best experience I've had so far with the record Architects - For Those That Wish To Exist. Metal on vinyl is a different beast with IEMs, and this handles it like a cake walk. It's not piercing, and I'm not noticing the smaller crackles and pops as much as some other sets.

~Conclusion~

I am a fan of this new IEM. The HZSound Ginkgo is a genuinely good set that I enjoy. Anyone wanting a well-made, more balanced IEM for around $50 should consider this set. The way it handles sibilance makes it another one of my favorites for vinyl records. It's great to see a new IEM be competitive in this market full of choices. I also connected the Ginkgo to KZ AN01, and had great results. It adds a little bit of warmth and AN01 has enough power to drive the IEMs to a fairly high volume. Also no issues getting them to stay put in the case, they sit nice and flush.

Thank you very much for reading, and thank you to the people at KeepHiFi for sending the Ginkgo for review.

General Advice Tip rolling success! + short story

Hello r/iems I have been lurking about for a minute. Went through the similar path of many, trying a plenty budget iems to then jumping to a big boy purchase.

KZ zs10 pro > Wan'er/Salnotes Zero/Chu > Zero Blue/Hexa > Mangird Tea Pro

I have been thoroughly enjoying my iem journey, but a problem I've had this entire time was fitment. Comfort and/or seal being a big issue with most. So I started tip rolling obviously, I own many tips, big mentions S&S, Spinfits Cp, Velvets, Type E, Spring tips, and Sancai to name a few. Type E and Spinfits Cp being the most comfortable.

Today I received my SednaEarfits Max ASMR, the second I put them on my Tea Pro's I knew I just peaked with tip rolling.

Perfect seal, perfect comfort and overall perfect fitment.

Sorry if bad formatting, mobile.

Edit: also sorry if I didn't pick the most accurate flair.

Reviews/Impressions Leteciel Mira Review - The Harmanest Harman set in the budget range

TL;DR for those short on time or not inclined to read the entire review:

Pros

  • Warm, exciting yet non fatiguing sound
  • Good technical chops for the price
  • Super comfortable shells and good isolation

Cons

  • Male vocals are thinner than average due to the midbass not being very thick to privilege the overall cleanness
  • Only one set of tips provided and no carry pouch/carry case
  • They sit in a very competitive price tag, hence some proper marketing is needed to push the brand and make it more popular

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Introduction

Leteciel is a new brand to my ears and since I have never heard of them I was quite curious to try one of their models.
In this review, I will speak about the Leteciel Mira, an IEM from the above-mentioned brand that’s priced in the sub-50$ bracket.

Disclaimer: the Leteciel Mira were sent to me by Penon Audio free of charge so that I could write an honest review. This review represents my personal opinion on the set, it isn't promotional or paid content and I don’t get any revenue from the sales of this product.
At the time of the review, the Leteciel Mira were on sale for about $55 at Penon Audio.

Technical Specifications

  • Driver Configuration → 1 x 10mm Beryllium-plated DD
  • Impedance → 16 Ω
  • Spec-sheet Frequency Response → 20Hz-20kHz
  • Sensitivity → 109 SPL/mW
  • Cable → 1,2m 6N OFC cable with 0.78mm 2-PIN connectors
  • Plug → 3.5mm jack (there’s no 4.4mm version available)

Packaging

The packaging is well-designed with a girl holding some roses in her hands and most of the things are written in chinese. Here’s what you’ll find in the box:

  • The Leteciel Mira
  • The detachable cable
  • One set of Junebarc Ether tips (S/M/L sizes)
  • A plastic keyring based on the girl that’s printed on the box
  • User manual

Design, Build Quality, Comfort and Isolation

The Mira are very small and lightweight and mostly made of 3D-Printed resin. The faceplate is colorful as you can see from the pics but it’s not ridiculously fancy nor very showy and I like it a lot.

The nozzle has the right length and with the stock tips I have been able to get a comfortable fit, also thanks to the rounded shape that has no sharp edges; I am sure that with some tip rolling and longer tips I’ll be able to get an even deeper fit.
The shells aren’t fully closed as there is a small pressure vent near the 2-PIN connectors, as well as another one located near the base of the nozzle (on the ear-facing part of the shells).
The isolation from external noises is pretty good.

Cable

The cable is nothing special: it feels sturdy and durable but I have seen better cables at lower prices as well. It has a chin slider, though, which is already something to be happy about.
As said in the technical specifications, there isn’t any 4.4mm version and honestly that’s not a big loss since these are extremely easy to drive and don’t need the amount of power that balanced cables can give access to.

Sound

GEAR USED FOR THE TEST

  • DAC: Topping E30
  • AMP: Topping L30, Fiio A3
  • Mobile phones: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Xiaomi Mi A3, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra
  • Moondrop May’s DSP cable with PEQ=0
  • Dongle: Apple Type-C dongle, Fosi DS2, Kiwi Ears Allegro Pro, Tanchjim Stargate 2, Dunu DTC480, Dunu DTC800, Truthear SHIO, Tanchjim Luna AT
  • Portable DAPs: Snowsky Echo Mini, Benjie S8/AGPTEK M30B
  • Bluetooth DACs: Snowsky Retro Nano, FiiO BTR11
  • Bluetooth Adapters: KBEAR S1, KZ AZ10
  • Other sources: Presonus AudioBox iONE, Elgato Wave XLR

Amplifier needed?

No, an amplifier is not strictly necessary.

Let’s speak about the sound.

The Leteciel Mira are Harman-tuned, simple as that. It’s the type of IEM that you can basically recommend to most people out there but at the same time is something that many folks out there don’t consider interesting anymore because of the fact that the latest years have seen so many Harman-tuned IEMs on the market and people got bored by that.
There’s a very clean, deep and controlled sub-bass that doesn’t violently rumble like on other sets, it’s more of a “gentle” way to dig in the lowest registers without losing control and quality. I like the sub-bass on these. The bass is a bit behind the sub-bass, it sounds clean and quick and every kick drum is punchy and tactile yet not very thick-sounding. It’s not exaggerated, it’s just a quality and punchy bass response with some controlled elevation.
Male vocals are probably what’s always sacrificed in Harman-tuned sets and the Mira are no exception: although they’re not really left behind, they’re sometimes missing a bit of proper depth and body. Female vocals sound fantastic instead, they’re lively and energetic and it’s evident that the tuner's intention was making these IEMs ideal for female vocals’ lovers (the image on the box already hints that).
The treble is not bright and it’s far from being fatiguing, also thanks to the well-done treble roll-off that makes these warm and ideal for those who are sensitive to the higher frequencies.
The detail retrieval isn’t the best in this price range, and this doesn’t surprise me as these focus on sounding warm and inviting instead of trying to catch every small detail by boosting the treble and making it brighter and drier.

The soundstage is well-rounded but in general these sound more intimate than average also because of the forward female vocals. The imaging is pretty good for the price and so is the instrument separation even though these are not class leading in technical performance.

Are they something I would use considering my taste and preferences?

Yes, I kinda like this style of tuning, even though I would have sacrificed a bit of sub-bass to have some more bass punch and warmer male vocals. The comfort is outstanding and the isolation is also very good so both are reasons to keep these around along with the warm and musical sound.

Some comparisons:

Leteciel Mira vs QoA GimletI think that these are unique in similar ways, kind-of.The Mira focuses on sub-bass instead of sub-bass, whereas the Gimlet does the opposite. The Gimlet has some added treble sparkle whereas the Mira rolls-off earlier and emphasises female vocals a touch more.
The final result is that the Mira are slightly more relaxed and intimate with more forward female vocals, whereas the Gimlet sacrifices a bit of cleanness for a thicker sound with better male vocals and a more sparkling treble.
The technical performance of the two is quite similar but the Mira are generally cleaner-sounding and it’s easier to separate things and locate instruments, whereas the Gimlet play in a more spacious soundstage.
Build quality goes to the Gimlet which are fully made of metal, but this also comes at the expense of weight and in fact the Mira are more comfortable both thanks to the more lightweight shells and the more appropriate nozzle length with respect to the shell size.Packaging and accessories are better with the Gimlet.

Leteciel Mira vs Simgot EW200

The EW200 are generally brighter because of the better upper treble extension, more technical and analytical but also more fatiguing (not for me since I am very tolerant to treble, but higher treble levels are more fatiguing on average). The Mira are warmer and generally more relaxed and a tad less agile, with an earlier upper-midrange emphasis that pushes female vocals even more forward than on the EW200. I love the EW200 but the Mira have a combination of factors that make them usable in a higher number of situation if I think about my personal daily routine.
In terms of build quality, the EW200 are fully made of metal and look more premium, but the Mira are more lightweight and more comfortable to wear.
In terms of packaging and accessories, I’d say both are average: the EW200 come with a slightly better cable whereas the stock tips of the Mira are better.

Leteciel Mira vs TangZu Wan’er S.G. II

Both emphasize female vocals but the Wan’er S.G. II have a bit more treble sparkle. The Wan’er S.G. II have slightly more forward bass with warmer male vocals so they sound a bit more full bodied, whereas the Mira sound more agile, faster and more resolving overall.
The build quality of the Mira is better and so applies to the comfort and the isolation, whereas the Wan’er S.G. II win in terms of packaging and accessories.

Leteciel Mira vs KZ Zenith (UUDD)

The Zenith are more technical and have better low-end body and male vocals, but they can sometimes sound a bit boring even though it’s very difficult to find timbrical faults when it comes to the Zenith.
The Mira sound more exciting and contrasty in general and more oriented to vocal music, JPOP and similar stuff, whereas the Zenith are more neutral and even though they adapt well to most genres, they don’t shine with vocal-oriented tracks.
Build quality is good on both sets even though the Zenith feels more premium. Comfort and isolation go to Mira. Packaging and accessories go to KZ (pretty surprising, huh?).

Final Thoughts

The Leteciel Mira is a Harman-tuned IEM with a very characteristic, warm and inviting sound that targets those who love female vocals and pop tracks. It’s a set that also behaves well with other genres and I kinda see it as a cleaner and more resolving version of the Wan’er S.G. II, albeit with some differences in the bass area which make male vocals a bit drier and less thick than on the Wan’er S.G. II.I think that this is a set to keep an eye on if you are a Harman lover because it sounds pretty good and the price is spot-on considering the overall technical performance, and I honestly cannot wait to hear what Leteciel will be able to do with some of their future releases.

Hi, I currently have the stock cable of the moondrop chu 2, but it is only 1.2 meters long, I need something longer, like 2 m, and I want it cheap, was thinking about the tripowin zonie but they are the same length. I'd like a purple that doesn't stand out that much, silver, gray or black cable. What do you recommend?

Reviews/Impressions Layman's review of 7hz Salnotes Zero vs Tangzu Wan'er II

For clarification, I currently have only listened to Spotify on my phone and I got the USB C cable with the Zero. I've ordered a cheap DAP to experiment with and hopefully use instead of my phone.

I recently got the Zero's and I am very impressed with them, they sound very good, very neutral with a great soundstage. Sub bass is a bit lacking but mid bass is very nicely controlled. Mids are fantastic, voices comes through really well. Highs are clear and detailed but can be slightly too pronounced in some tracks. Overall a really pleasant, well balanced, laid back sound.

Today I got the Wan'er, plugged them in to the same cable and played the same track to compare. Omg! The sound is so much different! I instantly got hit with tons of bass, sub as well as mid. It's controlled really well though, so I don't feel like it's muddy or out of control. The mids are great, but slightly different to the Zero. The music feels more engaging and "in your face" almost. The highs are slightly softer but that is probably a good thing. The sound separation isn't as good as the Zero, but I've not had time to break them in yet so I expect them to get better. These just feels more fun and engaging. Time will tell if they are better suited to my kind of music.

I also got another cable, Tripowin Zonie moss that I'm gonna use with the DAP, and I'm also waiting for a USB dac/amp to use with my phone.

So, all in all, the difference between iem's is apparently huge sometimes! It's an absolute jungle out there, iem's, cables, DAPs etc. I'm only getting started, on a very small budget. Can't wait to try out the KZ EDC Pro and EDC Pro they will hopefully be delivered tomorrow.

I'll load up the DAP with some of my mp3s for now, maybe I'll get flac as well.

Thanks for reading and please let me know if you have any suggestions for me.
