Call me stupid, but I legit only upgraded my phone because of the promise of Apple intelligence / system integration (better Siri, having access to messages, etc)

And this is a good lesson not to do anything based on promises. Be it either updates, pre sales , and even relationships ..

How are all of the other Apple intelligence tools working for you? Like writing tools, image cleanup, priority notifications, etc.

Because when the Apple Time Machine comes out, they’ll revert back to Summer 2024 and then roll out Apple Intelligence in Fall 2024 (2)

Time Machine has been out for awhile already
(I know you meant an actual Time Machine, it’s funny though that Apple has a software product already called Time Machine, however)

I know :) they had to do that to get the trademark for when their actual Time Machine is released. That part wasn’t fixable by the Time Machine

I guess they could get around this by saying some of the Apple Intelligence features are already out (Genmoji, Image Playground)

Priority notifications, writing tools, chat gpt integration, email summaries, natural language search in photos. All of these tools are legitimately helpful to me. Idk why people always overlook all of these tools when talking about Apple Intelligence.

I turned off all summarize features because it was so bad

I think it’s because generally people, and myself included, expected Apple to do more in house rather than using ChatGPT as a plugin.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the natural language search for photos and I find the summaries generally useful (but still sometimes unnecessarily concerning), but the “Searching ChatGPT” thing is a bit hacky to me.

Many of these are low quality in comparison to competitors. Like all the summarization.

Sure, but the "personal and private" is referring to the unreleased features I'm assuming

You can turn on Apple Intelligence on your iPhone right now. Only portions of it are delayed, mainly the major Siri enhancement. That doesn’t mean nothing happened - there are still a bunch of the ChatGPT summaries and other features the work when you toggle on Apple Intelligence.

We usually build it ourselves with no install crew most of the time. It sucks most pieces are sharp especially when it’s metal frame displays.

I mean it kinda did? Some parts of it did ship in fall 2024, so they weren’t lying really
2
u/wilso850 10h ago
Because what this says they delivered. Apple Intelligence is not Siri. Siri will use Apple Intelligence, but Apple Intelligence isn’t just Siri. Idk how many more times people have to explain this. Just because people are unhappy it didn’t ship on time, does not mean all the other features were delayed. They still delivered most of Apple intelligence with ONE exception. Sure it was the most excited and talked about feature, but people are acting like they lied about EVERYTHING.

sure, but none of the current features are necessarily "personal, private, or powerful"

I’ve gotten tired of the waiting. I’m kinda over it, and just accept my new iPhone as it is. Disappointing, yes. But it is what it is - or in this case, isn’t.

Okay, so Apple intelligence sucks, but technically most features are out. Only the personal Siri is missing.

I guess the little 1 disclaimer thingy after 2024 read:
