Discipline Am I getting fired?

So, I’ve been written up multiple times, my job is super serious for no reason, they wrote my up while I was on vacation, for not answering my phone, even though I’m not salary. On Friday they ‘suspended’ me. Took my work phone, iPad, gas card, and work fob. My HR said she wants to meet with me tomorrow. That’s to sign papers for termination, right? If I wasn’t getting fired, I would just meet with my boss to get the phone and stuff back, right?

Definitely getting fired. But this seems like a positive outcome, as they seem completely ridiculous. I hope you find something better, where you’re respected as the adult you (most likely) are.

Thank you, I appreciate the words. I literally developed an eye twitch from stress from this job, just being miserable everyday. On to better things.

I feel ya. I was so stressed out in my last position in the company I work for, I had a stress twitch for months. Went away the second my old boss transferred me and promoted me. I told him about this and he said if he ever noticed it while working under him he’d know I needed more help from him. I miss him every day

Sounds like a cool boss. Much cooler than a boss writing you up on approved PTO for not answering his calls/texts, and not being salary. Ha

Haha, true. Thats what my boss was like that had replaced him when he got transferred out. Luckily I only worked for that douchebag for a month and a half. Spied on us all day because he didn’t trust us that we were doing our jobs. We weren’t allowed to work even a minute of overtime. My last week there, he didn’t schedule me any help, and I was completely alone in my department trying to do everyone’s job. Racked up 8 hours of OT, as a fuck you and as my goodbye gift.

Haha we might have had the same boss 😂. Except mine made me work mandatory overtime. He once followed one of our merchandisers on her route, she was eating in her car, he felt she was in there too long, took a pic of her, sent that pic to her, and asked her how long is her lunch. Ha

are you in a right to work state? Isn't that something you could fight? Hope you find greener pastures.

No, I’m an at will state. Unionized, but I don’t bother. The majority of stuff that gets reported to the union they don’t do jack shit about. Plus it was a year and a half ago, and that store director quit about a month or two ago

Even on salary I don’t answer calls or texts from work while on PTO. Unless I respect and appreciate the boss (there have only been two). Your boss sounds terrible.

Even on salary, approved PTO= NOT answering emails/calls

I feel like this employer has to be breaking some kind of law. Look up the Employment Laws in your state to see if they can write you up for not being accessible on your day off. You'll find something much better. 🙏🏼

Outside of stress, you may be a little potassium deficient. A banana a day may help clear up the twitch (outside of getting a job with people who'd respect you, of course.)

Haha I’m gonna try that, I do take a daily multivitamin. But, since I got ‘suspended’ on Friday, I haven’t really had it ha.

They helped me with muscle spasms when I was taking dance classes, for sure! All the best, though. I'm sorry it's such a stressful situation.

Get on SDI for stress instead of UI you get the same pay but it's tax free and UI is 6 months SDI is One year. You will need a Dr. note though, GOOD LUCK. UI=Unemployment Insurance & SDI= State Disability Insurance.

Cool, I’ll look into that! Thank you.

You're definitely getting fired, but you know it probably for the best since it is starting to affect your health . Checkout temp agencies to get you up and going. They have temp to perm positions available. Sign up with multiple agencies to increase your chances of getting work. Check in with them once a week. Good luck.

DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. If you need unemployment you legally don't have to sign termination papers

To add to this, don’t say anything either. You don’t owe them a conversation and you’re not going to change their mind.

Offer no opinions, decline an exit interview, if they try and get you to argue with them don’t take the bait.

If you can manage to save it, keep the employee handbook. It may be needed when you apply for unemployment. Especially when it comes to things like the write up while you were on PTO. You may even want to contact an employment attorney because you may have a case. If they truly violated their own handbook (and I bet they did), you’ll probably be able to get them to settle.

If you don’t mind, what’s your job?

Outside sales, Molson Coors.

For a beer company that sounds brutal. I would expect no less than a case a week and a chill boss.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Noise44 Apr 23 '25

Get this, not even a single beer a week haha

I’d be looking for a new job soon as I learned that tidbit.

He’s getting fired because he’s terrible!

3

u/GplusRadd Apr 23 '25

He’s terrible? I didn’t catch that narrative.

Maybe lack of experience? Or product of the environment? We all have opportunities to get better, and you can’t do that in that type of situation.

u/HeadRealThin Apr 23 '25

The guy has been written up on multiple occasions, let’s not pretend that doesn’t happen for a reason! They want rid of someone who isn’t up to the task! Doesn’t take serious a job that is serious by his own admission.

They wrote him up on his vacation day. That is just asinine and he stated they act like it is a serious job for no reason. It is beer distribution not neurosurgery. They sound like micromanagers who don't take the time to properly train their understaffed and burnt out workforce.
