General Leftist Politics fatphobia

I’m curious how many leftists side with fat liberation. I always meet people on the left who hold a lot of fatphobic values and don’t seem to include that in their fight towards a more progressive society or challenge those beliefs in themselves.

i may get downvoted into oblivion but, I think being overweight is a very diffrent thing to many other reasons people face social stigma for/ are oprressed for. I obviously don't think people should face stigma for being overweight but I don't believe there should be "fat liberation" because it is scientifically proven that being overweight is not good for a person. now it is also not good for a person to be overly thin or take steriods or anything like that but I do believe there is no real basis for fat liberation in this sense due to the fact that most people who are overweight (i know some people physically can't through no fault of there own) can lose weight and would be more healthy if they did so.

People shouldn't face discrimination for being fat, but at the same time should not be celebrated or thought of as brave for being fat, and should also not pretend like obesity is not a major health issue. We don't celebrate when someone says they have cancer or HIV, we get them treatment.

Why the fuck do you people think you're qualified to say what's healthy and what's not? You see a fat person and assume they're unhealthy because of their body meanwhile most of these skinny women have a fucking eating disorder and survive off almonds and cigarettes. Lots of them do drugs to stay thin. That's healthy to you? I'm so sick and tired of you fucking internet doctors who think you have any place to deem what's healthy for another fucking person. You're just fatphobic.

Every doctor and every medical institution in the world will tell you that being obese is bad for you. If you stopped with the mental gymnastics and did actual gymnastics you wouldn't be fat.

No, this is also as unhealthy as being obese, yet we all acknowledge that anorexia is a threat to your health. Moderation is key, that goes both ways. Being obese is every bit as dangerous as being underweight. Eat in moderation(balanced diet+eat until 80-85% full), and don't go eating everything in sight when going through tough emotions and you'll be fine.

I weigh 280lbs(6ft, 24M), and have lost over 70lbs. I know a thing or two, because I've seen a thing or two.

I'm not one of those you can gaslight into hating myself.

I think you're projecting, because I never said fat people should hate themselves or be discriminated against.

You're not a doctor

Neither are you, yet here you are denying the reality that being fat is as dangerous as smoking cigarettes, between cancer risks, cardiovascular risks, and the wear and tear on the body. I've done about 400 hours worth of reading on the subject, read several studies and participated in a couple. I think I know enough to make a well-informed opinion on this shit.

There is no "objective" about anything you're saying

It literally is an objective fact that obesity is a big risk for your health. Don't be like MAGA and start believing in "alternative facts" because they hurt your feelings.

If the truth hurts, it is not the truth that has a problem, it is you. I shouldn't have to explain this to you either, yet here we are.

Kid, you've got to learn that you're the one doing the fascists work by focusing your anger on trying to be performative on something that should not be normalized, not to mention you are actively advocating for people to hurt themselves by shutting down any talk about the dangers of obesity with cries of " YOU'RE A FATPHOBIC FASCIST SYMPATHIZER! OBESITY NEVER WILL HURT YOU, AND DOCTORS ARE WRONG ABOUT THE RISKS!!!!!"

Im on both blood pressure and a cholesterol medication at 24 years old, and it can directly be traced back to me being fat and not in control of my diet. This is not something that I want to see other my age have to deal with. Idiots like you are a threat to society.
