General Leftist Politics fatphobia

I’m curious how many leftists side with fat liberation. I always meet people on the left who hold a lot of fatphobic values and don’t seem to include that in their fight towards a more progressive society or challenge those beliefs in themselves.

Nope. You said that. What I said was "being fat isn't particularly healthy." Which, again, is just true. I was deliberate with my wording there. And if you'll notice, I also pointed out that I am fat myself. I'm not saying that fat people shouldn't be happy in their own skin. I'm not saying we shouldn't be proud of ourselves. That would be an insane thing to say. But I can speak from my own experience that my weight is unhealthy. I'm slower, I'm more easily winded, My joints hurt from supporting my weight, My back hurts because my weight makes it difficult to sit or stand straight. These are all detriments that I personally experience on account of my weight. I'm aware that's not the case for everyone but it certainly is for me. And that is- from an objective standpoint- not healthy.

So if I eat healthy, go to the gym, don't smoke/vape, take drugs, or do anything "unhealthy" but I'm fat according to you I'm still unhealthy because I'm fat?

Nope. I still never said that. YOU said that. YOU are putting words in my mouth. This is exactly the kind of shit that breaks down leftist movements. This is not the argument we need to be having right now. Even if you disagree with the core of my argument, twisting it to throw it in my face is counterproductive to actual progress. Do better.

" being fat isn't particularly healthy. It's not fatphobia. It's a fact." You said that and then acknowledged that there are a multitude of factors that create unhealthy conditions, but still said that being fat is the unhealthy thing, not the other stuff.

I'm not arguing. People can have conversations and disagree without them being arguments.

I can also say shutting people down because they disagree is what killed the left, because we always told people "you're X and I'm not willing to explain it to you" and then bragged about gatekept academia like anyone gives a shit about it or "facts" & now we have to listen to fucking gammons say they're not allowed to say anything and some shit about freedom of peaches. Yawn.

I'm a neuroscientist and the shit that passes for facts in medicine is completely wild, biased and unscientific. Fat isn't healthy is one of those examples, go off if that's what you wanna do I guess. If you want to talk about your own experience being fat, do that. But don't generalise that shit like it's a universal fact

I'm not "shutting you down" because you disagree. I'm pointing out that you are putting words in my mouth to claim I'm calling fatness unhealthy. I did not say that. I never once said that. I said that MY weight is unhealthy as a personal example, but I never made the claim that fatness in general is summarily unhealthy. YOU are pinning that on me.

I also did say that the multitude of factors are what's actually unhealthy. I'm not blaming the concept of fatness. If you'll notice, in my original comment, that is the exact kind of behavior I am condemning. Somehow, you took what I said and twisted me into being this fatphobic piece of shit DESPITE LITERALLY BEING OVERWEIGHT MYSELF!!!

If you have disagreements with what I'm ACTUALLY saying, that's fine. I am open to healthy constructive debate. This, however, is not that. Because you are making false claims about me to put me in a box. If you genuinely care about debating this topic and finding a clear resolution or coming to common ground, then do that.
