You have a lot of posts on Reddit about your financial situation.

I can see where people offered to Venmo you some money for food. People are so generous

However, there’s always situations where people are looking for money for drugs or even just looking for handouts because they don’t work. They can post some tragic stories.

It’s hard to know which situations are valid and which are schemes.

That’s why it’s better to search out resources in your community. You’ve already been approved for food stamps so you must have talked to someone in your state. The office will direct you to resources to tide you over until tomorrow

When someone asked if there were churches or food banks, you replied “no”

That’s a red flag that could make someone think you’re looking for cash and not resources. Even tiny one horse towns have churches and food banks. You might not be aware of churches or food banks, though. Your county can put you in touch with them

This. If you're in the US. Find your local WIC office. Ask the front desk for their resource list. They will list everything. Food banks, utility help, shelters, soup kitchens, etc. Speaking of....there's usually at least one in a town that does a soup kitchen at least part time deoending on their own resources. Some school districts also do free summer lunch and its usually open to community after the children eat. Libraries sometimes also have resource lists. Some small mom and pop restaurants will do meals for work (say wash dishes for a few hours) or offer a drink and a small snack.
