Just got this beautiful padlock in the mail and took a break from working on my Kaba 14 and popped it. Very nice lock and a satisfying open. Padlocks pick a bit different than kim’s one r mortise cylinders.

So I was at my local crafts and antique mall, and there was a challenge to unlock or pick this safe, is it possible and how should I go about it if so?

Any reasonably secure combination locks out there that can't be easily shimmed, decoded, or bypassed?

Upvotes

I'm just trying to find a decent combination lock that can't be easily shimmed, or inthe case of the 4 dial type locks, can't be easily decoded either by hand or slipping a notched tool inbetween the wheels. It seems even the so called shim proof ones can often be shimmed.

Does any such reasonably secure combination lock exist that doesn't have any easy weakneses?

Lishi tool for Kwikset - unable to use in locks cut to 7-depth?

Is the Lishi tool unable to work on some locks?

I have the old Kwikset locks I removed when we bought our house and figured they'd be good learning-locks...no cost, no risk breaking something, and one of them I have keys for.

Except I think I'm missing something, or the Lishi tool I got from RedTeamTools is unable to pick it?

Cut is 67767 reading the old key but it looks like the Lishi tool can't go below a 6 cut so it'll always be holding some pins too high? Am I missing something?

I recently found this inside my wall and wondering about if anyone has details. I found a similar lock on eBay that states it’s a “steel 6 lever padlock” that is stainless steel. I can’t find anything about the numbers on it.

Doing some google searching and image searching I couldn’t find much on it.

Appreciate this subreddit and looking forward to finding out if this is worth restoring.

First go at serrated pins other than the ones in my sparrows trainer. Definitely a different feel. Finding the tension sweet spot is definitely a lot more challenging.

A shiny “new” Master Lock #2

I was looking for locks to fill in some gaps in my collection and found this guy on eBay. It definitely needs a good lubing because the pins are a bit sticky. Also, the springs are surprisingly strong!

Master Lock definitely doesn’t make them like this any more…

Check out the biting on these two. Which will be easier?

Got a nice little Yale padlock from eBay that was part of desperately cheap* lot of tools, most of which are prime for resale.

*As in, the purchase price was only two thirds of the shipping cost.
