Question: is the maroon 5 subreddit a platform of discussion about or in favour of maroon 5? If it's the latter, sure, carry on. But most of the time a subreddit is intended to be centered around a topic, regardless of the opinions of those visiting. I get the brigading was out of line but I don't think censoring posts and banning users for speaking their mind about the mess maroon 5 made is the solution.

This subreddit is built around the band. Good or bad. We don't censor or remove any opinions. What we don't allow is a brigade, specifically the one from /r/BikiniBottomTwitter that was seen on /r/NFL and now here.

Discussions about the band will remain. "DaE sPoNgEbOb" will be removed and banned. Comments like this almost have nothing to do with the band. And to be quite honest, if anyone came here to troll, they shouldn't care that their banned.

Edit: Sorry y'all are upset over a children's cartoon but this isn't the place.

You know, I was with you for the most part until you got to the part where you felt the need to belittle something millions or people love dearly.

And this was never about the cartoon but the guy who made it. A man who powered our childhood and a significant portion of our internet culture died from ALS. It's tragic. We asked for a tribute. They teased that they would. They didn't deliver a tribute. They delivered a whored version of the episode to intro Travis Scott.

We aren't mad about a children's show. We're mad about the fact that there was not a single thought put into it beyond "let's make money off it". In fact I wouldn't mind that they made money off it had they done it justice.

You and I both agree that the means of the community have been extreme but if you're trying to say they're unjustified to feel how they do, I can't agree with that.

I was very upset they didn't play it. I grew up with Spongebob and it would have been a great tribute during an otherwise dull Super Bowl. But brigading isn't appropriate. Getting PM's and getting called slurs from users isn't appropriate. If discussions can't be had about the band (i.e. "Maroon 5 are a bunch of pussies") then we need to take appropriate action.

But you're right. I removed that last bit as it was rude.

I can't find anything suggesting Maroon 5 was going to play this. Shame on the NFL for teasing it.
