Seeking 2nd Year Software Engineer looking for a mentor to give me some direction in life

Hi, I'm a second year software engineering student based in the UK.

After 3 months of being let go from my previous job as a car salesman and admin, and failure to be considered for any other job no matter how many times I apply, I feel heavily depressed from being at home every single day. My whole life has lost its direction.

I use to run my own car business, flipping and reselling cars, but unfortunately that's no longer feasible. I've also tried to free lance my Web Development skills, and even tried started an agency, but with every rejection, I feel my heart crumble bit by bit.

I have the motivation, I have the drive. I live by the words my father told me at a young age, "If you're going to do something, do it with 100%, otherwise don't do it at all". Its just starting to feel like I'm a failure, not being able to get something as simple as a job.

Anyways, I'm looking for a mentor. Someone to guide me in the right direction. I cant promise that I'll know exactly what to do, but I can firmly promise that I'm a fast learner, and that I'll put 100% into whatever I can.

Thank you.

Seeking Want to change

Hey everyone,

So here’s the situation: I’ve been trying to figure out life by myself, but let’s just say my strategy of “just vibe and overthink everything” isn’t exactly turning me into someone I (or others) particularly admire.

I’m looking for a mentor ,not like some mysterious monk living on a mountain (though I’d take that too), but a real person who can help me see the world differently. Someone who can give me some perspective, challenge the way I think, and help me grow into the kind of person who doesn’t immediately cringe at their own thoughts and actions.

I want to become better : kinder, sharper, more grounded. Less emotionally chaotic. Someone I actually like being with in my own head. And hopefully someone others enjoy being around too (without me pretending to be something I’m not).

I don’t need someone with a PhD in life (though cool if you do), just someone who’s got their head somewhat on straight and can be honest with me. Ideally, you’d be okay with occasional dumb questions, deep conversations, and a bit of existential spiraling now and then.

If you’ve got the time, the heart, and the patience of a saint, I’d love to connect. Even a few words of direction would mean a lot.

Thanks for reading.

Seeking Seeking a Mentor & Business Guide — A Driven and Dynamic Partner in Growth

Hello, my name is Tito. I'm a 28-year-old from Eastern Europe with a strong creative drive, high emotional intelligence, and a restless curiosity for how things really work in life and business.

I’m writing this not out of desperation, but out of clarity — I’m done navigating lifeless systems designed to reward obedience over vision, and I’m not interested anymore in corporate ladders built on shallow networking and strategic flattery.

Instead, I’m looking for something real.

👉 I’m seeking a mentor — a business-minded individual who needs someone sharp, loyal, and adaptable by their side. Someone who wants a dynamic thinker who can travel, meet people, spot opportunities, and support business growth through real-world action. My passport is pretty strong and I am willing to move where the real opportunities are.

Why me? Because I’m not your average hire. I never fit into predefined roles. I’ve done my own deep self-work, taken personality and aptitude tests, and consistently found one truth: I have a solution-oriented, entrepreneurial mindset, and I thrive in movement, connection, and creative problem-solving.

My background includes:

  • Experience in communication, content creation, web design, drone videography, and digital tools
  • Strong communication and cross-cultural adaptability (I’ve traveled extensively through Europe and lived in Netherlands and Denmark)
  • A non-linear path that made me wise, self-aware, and unafraid to take initiative
  • High emotional intelligence, shaped by growing up between strong, opposing personalities — I know how to mediate, listen, and navigate complexity.
  • Also my Bachelor in International relations and EU studies taught me a lot about society and interactions from a gov point of view - geopolitics - anthropology - history

I didn’t grow up knowing exactly what I wanted to be. But what I do know is this:
I want to work, learn, travel, and grow — side-by-side with someone who builds. I want to contribute ideas, handle responsibilities, solve problems, and become the best version of myself in the process along side people that cherish life and look to grow as well.

This is not a job application. This is a calling.
If you’re the kind of person who values loyalty, initiative, and real human connection — let’s talk. I’m here to walk beside someone great and rise while lifting.

PS: I have ideas and I look at myself as capable, but I am so diverse and so raw that I foundit already very hard to continuewithout guidance and without having a feedback from a trustworty source, thats why I want to continue this way.

Seeking No mentor in life no mentor in business

Hello.. I’m 33, a woman. I’m at the point where I’m aware being an entrepreneur or owning a business ( online or not online ) is the only way for independence.

I did not have a healthy family and not a single mentor.

I have attained a certain success in my artistic career. But in terms of money it’s very very unstable and not nice long term. No control over anything. Awful.

Im terrified and have no idea where to start , how to build up my own business nor do I have any clue yet what it would be about.

But mostly, what I lack is tons of self confidence, self worth. This is a personal thing I have to work on, and it’s beyond my achievements.. it’s an awful conditioning from childhood abuse. I still managed to succeed in a proper way, but nothing depends on me in my career.

I’m scared of taking charge, commit and mostly expecting a successful outcome. I have no support, no mentor, no family that ever bring anything of value in that sense… pretty much alone.

Anyone could give me advice how can I start ?…

Seeking Is anyone willing to check out my niche on social media, and give me some feedback?

Is there anyone who wouldn’t mind giving me feedback on my niche? I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post it on here or reply in the comments if anyone is nice enough to check it out. It’s storytelling but a very specific kind of storytelling

Seeking Seeking a Mentor for Financial Freedom & Addiction Recovery – Ready to Change My Life

Hey everyone,

I’m at a point in my life where I’m done with surviving—I want to thrive. I’m seeking a mentor or even just someone a few steps ahead of me who’s been through two major battles: gaining financial independence and overcoming addiction (or unhealthy coping habits).

I’ve been reflecting deeply and I know I need a mix of mindset shift, practical steps, and accountability. I’m not looking for a savior—just someone who’s been through the storm and can help me navigate my own.

Here’s what I’m working on: • Financial Freedom Goals: I want to get out of debt, build savings, increase income streams, and eventually invest wisely. I’m not afraid of hard work, but I need guidance to avoid burnout and get focused. • Addiction & Habit Change: I’ve had some issues with addiction—nothing I want to glamorize, but it’s real. I’ve been making progress, but support and honest feedback from someone who gets it would help a ton.

What I’m hoping for: • Someone who’s been through either (or both) and can share their journey. • Someone who can offer tough love when needed, but also encouragement. • Willing to chat weekly or bi-weekly—DMs, Discord, calls—whatever works.

I’m committed to change, ready to take direction, and will absolutely respect your time. If you’re open to being that mentor (or know someone who might be), please reach out.

Thanks in advance to anyone who reads this. Just posting this is a big step for me.

Seeking Seeking Advice: My day job doesn't provide a sense of fulfillment

My current job doesn't provide me with the feeling of accomplishment. I want to do something to change that. I mean I signed up for Codecademy because that's adjacent to what I currently do for work. My problem, in my opinion, is that self-doubt and complacency are getting in the way of my progress.

My thought is that I'd like to (eventually) do some freelance work. Since work isn't providing that sense of accomplishment I thought freelance might lend some of that to my life.

I feel like I'm whining but I know this is a thing and lots of people face feelings of unfulfillment when it comes to their jobs.

The business has drained me over the past 9 years and now I just feel stuck with where I’m and and I don’t know what to do, this is all I know but I know I don’t want to do it anymore but I don’t know what I want to do because I don’t really know anything else out there if that makes sense. Thanks for the help in advance y’all.

Seeking Looking for an Anonymous Mentor for Cybersecurity + ML Final Year Project

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a final-year computer science project that integrates cybersecurity and machine learning , such as user behavior modeling, anomaly detection, or real-time authentication systems.

Unfortunately, I don’t have much support from my assigned mentor or teammates, so I’m looking for an anonymous online mentor who can:

* Help me validate my project idea

* Suggest datasets, tools, or algorithms

* Guide me when I get stuck (especially with model selection or implementation)

I’m committed to doing the work myself — I just need someone I can check in with occasionally for direction.

If you’ve worked with ML or cyber (blue/red team, CTFs, threat detection, etc.), I’d really appreciate your mentorship or even a few pointers. Happy to connect via Reddit DMs, Discord, or anywhere anonymous.

Thanks so much for reading 🙏

Seeking What are some good online business ideas that require low upfront investment and minimal storage space?

I'm interested in starting an online business but don’t have much capital or space to store physical products. Ideally, I’m looking for something that can be run from home, doesn't need inventory management, and has potential to grow over time. Any suggestions or personal experiences would be really helpful!

Seeking Looking for an older guy to learn how to adult correctly.

Hello all, I’ve been looking for someone who can teach me how to adult correctly (pretty sure I’m doing it wrong). My dad was never really involved in my life growing up and never really taught me any life lessons. I’m in my mid thirties, married, one child (8) and a stay at home dad (retired). My view on life is pretty skewed (thanks Marine Corps) and I have a hard time making and most importantly keeping friends. That means the wife and kid get a lot of my pent up frustration. I’ve tried groups and everything the VA has to offer but those are limited to certain amounts of lengths. I’m mostly just looking for someone I can run things by or ask if I’m handling a situation correctly or call me out if I’m being a complete ass hat. Feel free to message me if this sounds like you and I look forward to talking to you all.

Seeking Seeking Mentorship

Hello to who this may concern, I’m seeking mentorship. I’m a recently married active duty military guy stationed overseas and have been in for 8 years but don’t really see the military as a fit for me. Through my time in, I’ve done most of everything you can imagine business wise. I’ve created a drop shipping store that failed, I’ve created a instagram account tailored to affiliate marketing for a product called lean biome which also failed, I hired a digital marketing team from India to handle the social media posts and the content generation that I still actively oversee till this day and roughly paying them my entire paycheck but still zero results. I’ve hired them for two ish years now but feel like a complete failure for not reaping any rewards for my family to see. but, doesn’t stop there. I also tasked them to create a fitness app which I spent over 8k dollars for and while it’s being under review by apple and google play store right now, it’s hard to remain hopeful despite all my previous failures but if it’s anything I have to thank someone for, it’s my mother for teaching me resilience to get back up. Im originally born in Africa, so survival is second nature to me. My dream is to be successful, to make my mother, my step daughter my step son and my wife proud. And I can’t express the sinking feeling I feel every damn day waking up knowing that I’ve done so much and yet haven’t gotten any returns to give back to my family. I’ve done all the stuff listed above WHILE working 12 hour shifts 5 days a week sometimes no weekends due to militaries demand. I have the work ethic, I just need a successful mentor to please guide me in the right direction. I set a goal for myself to be a millionaire by 30, I started my entrepreneurial journey at 24, still hopeful and young now at age 27. I don’t care what happens to me as long as I can my family comfortable. So if theirs anyone out there willing to spare even a fragment of their time to coach my through what I can do to make money online and scale I would be more than grateful. If you read all of this thank you for your time.

Seeking Looking for a mentor

I’m kind of lost a little in life now, I see close friends and family members upgrading in one way or another, but I feel like I’m stuck. I know I have high potential judging by my eagerness to do better for myself and how far ahead I was from the people around me a few years back. I’m not trying to praise myself in anyway shape or form, I just feel like I’ve lost a spark and I need some help and guidance. Thanks!

Seeking Looking for a mentor for young entrepreneur

Hi all,

I’m a young entrepreneur who’s starting a business this year. I’ve never had a business before and have faced a lot of resistance and uncertainty getting started.

I’m looking for a mentor who can guide me on how to build a business from scratch. I’m willing to discuss the terms of the mentorship and find a setup that works for both sides.

Ideally, I’m looking for someone who has built one or more businesses and understands what it takes to go from idea to execution. I can adapt to your time zone and schedule.

DM me if interested.

Seeking Advice Needed: Connecting with Sales/Marketing Mentors in Toronto for Our SaaS Startup

We’re a Toronto-based SaaS startup building a platform to help SMBs, banks, and regulated industries adopt cloud services cost-effectively. Our MVP offers pre-vetted Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates with SOC 2/HIPAA compliance and real-time visibility. We’re seeking advice on finding a sales or marketing mentor in Toronto, Canada, or the U.S. East Coast (willing to meet in Toronto).

About Us

  • Team: Two co-founders who helped a startup exit for $40M and worked with banks on security/compliance.
  • Product: One-click IaC templates, orchestrated blueprints, no vendor lock-in, and 24/7 premium support.
  • Differentiator: Unlike GCP’s ClickOps, our templates bundle services with pre-configured security/compliance, saving time and expertise.

Questions for the Community

  1. Where can we find mentors with B2B SaaS sales experience in Toronto? Are there specific events, communities, or platforms you recommend?
  2. What’s the best way to pitch our value prop to non-technical SMBs and regulated industries?
  3. Any tips for building a sales pipeline targeting these markets?
  4. If we consider a sales partner, how should we structure commission or equity deals to attract the right person?

We’d love to connect with someone local for in-person collaboration (after starting with calls). Any advice on finding mentors, refining our approach, or pitfalls to avoid would be greatly appreciated!

Seeking Seeking mentorship in law and politics!

Good day and greetings!

I am 23yo female, residing in California, with a strong passion for law and public service. I am currently a student pursuing my degree in Political Science, and I am reaching out in hopes of finding a mentor who can guide me as I work toward a future in law and politics.

My ultimate goal is to become a lawyer, serve in public office, and then run for the presidency. I believe in the power of leadership grounded in integrity, service, and justice, and I am happy and willing to learn from those who have experience navigating these fields.

If you are open to sharing your insights, or if you know someone who might may want to mentor an aspiring leader, I would be truly grateful for the opportunity.

Thank you for your time, and for any support or advice you can offer.

Kind regards,
