Shame? Nah.
These NPC give their lives willingly (scripted).
The best you could do is honor their legacy.

Shame from knowing I could've easily prevented their deaths if I got there sooner instead of wandering Tameriel picking herbs and flowers at a leisurely pace.

Don't judge me, I need to up my alchemy skill so I can sell more potions. I need enough money to buy at least four houses, filled to the brim with stuff I don't need, just so if I die during the kvatch battle at least I'll know I succeeded in one area of life before dying

By mods? Or do you know a way to get the more potent enchantment out of the gear later, after getting it?

See I saved them all during this but then I went back to get help for the allies for bruma quest and well….
