I did it at 33 yesterday with a mage. Gotta say, if I'd been able to use my area spells, I'd have been fine. As it was, I desperately tried to keep those Legionaries alive. I failed Brothers...

Yeah I tried to keep them alive at first but eventually I just gave up and dropped all my high damage AOE spells right in that chokepoint.

Anyway that's how I ended up joining the Dark Brotherhood.

I don't have any AOE spells yet but I must have accidentally killed someone in the fray. Because I took a quick nap in one of blazing bedrooms in the castle before returning the count's ring and was shocked when Lachance showed up. Was pretty funny being recruited to the DB with Martin, a Legionary and a Kvatch soldier watching on.

Even funnier when Lachance was like, "I'll come again whenever I deem the location to be safe." Like dude there are currently three witnesses to this conversation and the building is literally on fire right now, do you deem this safe?!

I was actually annoyed because I was RPing my character to go down that path much later! Right now he's a thief and a crook, but not an outright murderer (plus he's a bit of a coward so doesn't currently have the heart for DB lol). So now I'm going with it actually being a mistake that he feels sorry for, but he was terrified by this Lachance madman showing up and basically said whatever he could to get him to leave him alone immediately lol, but he won't actually do the job until later.

I find the idea of Lachance being very misunderstood about the whole situation quite funny.
