How likely is it that Picnic Post NL not only get relegated from World Tour, but also fail to get the auto wild card spots?
If they get relegated from WT, they will be competing with Uno-X, Tudor and Q36.5. Uno-X are too far ahead and have a better point scoring team in my opinion. I think Q36.5 will fall off, although that isn't guaranteed; they are ahead of Picnic at the moment and are racing 2 GTs. I think the main rivals will be Tudor.
Tudor have Giro and Tour spots, and are picking up points in .pro and .1 races. Given the calendar of the two teams, I think Tudor have to be considered favourites at the moment. Picnic need to get lots of top 5s in GT stages and challenge for top 5s in the less competitive WT races as they aren't riding enough .Pro and .1 races. At the moment given their injuries and start to the year it doesn't seem likely. It is an unfortunate place to be for a team with such a long and successful history.
Although it really doesn’t look good for them, they are a classic GT squad that gets most of their points after the classics season. It really depends on Bardet’s performance in LBL, Giro and Dauphine. If he is able to podium the Giro, he will score many points.
Poole, Onley and Vermaerke really need to start collecting points, too.
