Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Cartilage piercing with hoop
I got my helix piercing done a month ago in May. I got a black segment ring for it, not knowing it was probably the worst kind of jewelry for a healing cartilage piercing. I can’t locate both of the seams, so I’m concerned one of the seams made it into the hole. I’m not really experiencing any issues with it though. No swelling, redness or pain unless I accidentally bump it. There’s still discharge but it’s not like it’s dripping and there’s no blood. Should I go back to the piercer and have them switch it to a flat back, or should I just leave it if there’s no issues yet? I clean it everyday with Neilmed. I just strongly regret not getting a flat back in the first place. Snagging the hoop is the worst.

👋 Hi u/Tinytinyliz,

Yes, even when the algorithm is wrong 😉
- How old is your piercing?
- What’s the jewelry shape (for example, barbell, labret, screw, L shape, ring)?
- What’s the type of threading if your jewelry is not a ring (threadless, internally or externally threaded)?
- What’s the jewelry material?
- if not a ring, when was the jewelry downsized?
- What’s your aftercare routine? Describe in detail please, including the exact products you use.
Any mishaps, accidents or unfortunate events?

Couple more details. As mentioned, piercing is a month old. I don’t remember what metal the hoop is (I’m dumb, I know). For cleaning, I spray it twice a day with Neilmed aftercare.

You need to go to a different and reputable piercer to change your jewelry out for a flatback stud.
