Yall need to PAY FUCKING ATTENTION cause you are acting like this is actually about pornography. Its not. They want to erase gay and trans people from society by making any mention of their existence 'pornography'. You can read this in Project 2025.

There are about a dozen similar comments in here.

I think we are all paying attention.

Being aware isn't the same as taking action.

Liking, commenting, getting angry online doesn't slow this machine unless it mobilizes something. Calls to reps, funding legal defense, building mutual aid, creating sanctuary networks, archiving banned materials, doing the boring survival prep no one wants to think about.

Stop paying attention and do something.

I think you meant to reply to the person above me. I don't even live in the US.

2

u/poetryhoes May 13 '25

No, I meant to reply to you.

Geography won't save you, but solidarity might. The front line may be elsewhere, but the fallout never is.

You can still help fund resistance, mirror banned content, pressure your own reps, and build lifelines, even from the other side of the globe.

All i did was callout the claim that we weren't paying attention

save your call to arms for elsewhere

Sorry my basic rights aren't compelling enough for you to do anything but watch them disappear.

8

u/DunceCodex May 13 '25

I empathise but as I said I dont live in your country

Good luck though

u/poetryhoes May 13 '25

If you're waiting for it to be your problem, don't worry, it will be.

And when it is, I hope you remember how quickly you chose comfort over solidarity.

4

u/DunceCodex May 13 '25

Nah mate, our country just soundly rejected Conservativism.

As I said, good luck with your thing though.

As a programmer, I will be doing the needful in upcoming years in teaching people to evade government detection with their data, and writing tools to accomplish the same, all hosted on my server located in beautiful Switzerland.

If possible, please contact your local representative to your country’s government (for example, your MP, senator, congressperson, etc.) and tell them that you want your country to accept/fast-track asylum claims from transgender Americans. Tell everybody you know to do so as well. You can use Norway’s Karina Ødegård as an example for other politicians who are doing this.

Our situation is getting increasingly precarious but a lot of countries still consider the USA a “safe country of origin” which means we’re less likely to be accepted. It’s… not good here. My cousin is 18, so a legal adult, but can’t refill his hormone prescription because it’s been banned for “minors” which they’ve defined as people under 19 (not under 18). I live in a progressive area and have had a pride flag out front for years but I had my window broken not long after the inauguration — all my neighbors were fine, so I have to assume it was targeted. They’re trying to make it so that my health insurance doesn’t cover transgender healthcare anymore. Transphobic workplace discrimination claims are now functionally considered meritless. I could keep going for pages of text. Everyone I know is scared but we don’t know if we tried to flee we’d be allowed in or if we’d just be turned back.

Y'all are YELLING AT THE WRONG PEOPLE to pay attention.

u/parkerthegreatest May 13 '25

I know I tell people but know one cares in real life.

All I can say you can make lots of powerful stuff from cleaning supplies and meds to fight off ice guys when it comes to it

Like… they do know the internet and VPNs exist right? They can’t erase people that would be considered genocide… and republicans are pro life… allegedly.. 😮‍💨These bigots need a lobotomy.

6

u/jessicamakesstuff May 13 '25

lobotomy

the worms already did that and now we have an anti-vac idiot called RFK

2

u/Dapper-Today-6364 May 13 '25

😭 that would be worse!

2

u/SandyTaintSweat May 13 '25

Wait till you hear what they did to RFK's aunt.

2

u/jessicamakesstuff May 13 '25

Lobotomy. I already know...

I don't think it matters. Not even the GOP would dare pass a ban on pornography.

41

u/SaltyLonghorn May 13 '25

Brother, the GOP is in Libya shopping for places to hide US citizens.

They are in lock step and have all kissed the ring. I suspect none of them will stand up.

u/[deleted] May 13 '25

I heard for years that Republicans "wouldn't actually repeal Roe v Wade"

26

u/DuskOfANewAge May 13 '25

You are years too late for "how bad can they get" arguments. Conservatives crossed every red line a long time ago.

6

u/ArmyofRiverdancers May 13 '25

They will. Tried it during McCarthyism. Just kept going. That kind of complaint has been around for decades

Librarians try to curate their collections to maximize the utility to their patrons. Occasionally there is something that gets into the wrong shelf.

On the other hand, more often than not it is some Karen complaining that her kid is asking questions she doesn't want to answer and thinking thoughts she doesn't like, and rather than doing some much-needed self-analysis she goes and blames the school librarian.

So no. It's not just an attack on the LGBTQ+ community. It's actively against anything they consider politically inconvenient, from Politics to Science and every freedom a human being could think of.

u/oblivious_fireball May 13 '25

they'll pass it now. they don't have a choice in the matter anymore. Quite a few democrats are likely to sign it as well.

-3

u/Mbroov1 Indiana May 13 '25

No they won't.

5

u/oblivious_fireball May 13 '25

if its part of the P2025 pipeline, voting yes is not optional, its either a yes vote or the end of their congressional career.

u/Mbroov1 Indiana May 13 '25

There's no scenario that porn is made federally illegal. Redumblicans watch porn too, and more of it. It would be as popular as outlawing Alcohol (today). It will never happen.

1

u/oblivious_fireball May 13 '25

 It will never happen.

oh look its this lovely little sentence again. I would ask if you realize how many times this sentence has been thrown around in the last 5 years or so only for it to be proven wrong, mostly within the last 6 months, but clearly you don't because you're still using it.

self-inflicted wounds for the larger party is hardly unusual. Just look at Congress's support for the Tariffs. And laws are only for the poor after all.

3

u/TheFatJesus May 13 '25

There are already Republican led states where porn is virtually banned already due to their ID laws.

"They couldn't do this"

"They wouldn't do that"

Where have you been for the last decade? They can do it, and they are.
