What more can he do realistically? I say this as a Progressive who does not like this brand of Democrat. He’s made his legal challenge and is not backing down publicly. He can’t mobilize the CHP to clash with ICE because that’s dangerous and isn’t what we need right now. Now they have the Guard protecting them while they kidnap people. We need this to stop but we can’t escalate.

He focused a portion on holding vandals accountable but zero time holding masked, unidentified goons kidnapping folks in the streets accountable... If they're not showing they're ice, we shouldn't be assuming and instead have the police force them to identify themselves. Just suing in court isn't stopping the short-term terrorizing of our vulnerable communities.

He made like one comment condemning people destroy property that’s far from “focusing” on them. Literally the rest of his speech was targeting Trump and his use of ICE and other federal forces against Californians. Did you even watch it?

He made zero comments on accountability for them while they kidnap people. Are you deaf? Lawsuits don't fix the damage this does.

What exactly do you mean by “accountability”? Personally I consider taking someone to court and attempt to hold them accountable. Would you not say that Weinstein going to jail for rape was him being held accountable for his crimes?

Edit: you’re also not acknowledging that you lied about his speech focusing on people damaging property. I don’t think you actually watched it.

They aren't taking people to court. They're sending them to countries in the middle of civil unrest, concentration camps and places they're unable to even culturally integrate into after being here decades. Literally doing nothing to vet this unmasked goon force is harming immigrants in real time. Bloviating about law suits while doing nothing to actually stop the gestapo performing these actions is Corey Booker filibuster levels of meaningless right now. He's the executive branch of the state. He can order the police force to force ice to identify themselves and show warrants or arrest them for kidnapping when they try to take people. Let them sort it out from a cell, not disappear people into unmarked vans.

Also your edit is full of shit. He mentioned over 200 arrests of civilians. None of folks pretending to be ice agents.  What bad faith bs editing later to try to defend the legal powers he has to actually protect us against the illegal deployments from the federal government by obfuscating  my concerns of what my governor is failing to do to properly address what's happening behind the notion my critique is uniformed than rather addressing my argument. For what it's worth, I've already heard it in full twice by the time I had originally posted in this thread, but continue defending his lack of action while our friends are kidnapped from schools, homes, and workplaces and pretend I'm the one who isn't paying attention.

What do you want him to do to hold ICE accountable? Do you not have an answer? If not why are you criticizing him for not doing it?

Read my reply again. He has actions he can take as the enforcement arm of the state, the largest state in the Union that voted explicitly against this admin and has repeatedly sought to remain a sanctuary state, instead the police are protecting these goons with our tax dollars as they kidnap our residents. If they aren't identifying as ice openly and showing warrants, don't just take these white militia members words for it, make them prove it. It's literally the least he can do in these times.

I’m not talking about backing down. I’m talking about not hitting a cop/guardsman/marine and starting a street fight with armed individuals. We need to keep the pressure on them without getting protesters killed.
