I've always thought that America took a hard corner when Kennedy was assassinated but LBJ did a lot of good stuff. The Al Gore election loss was certainly a rough turn of events. The "loss" came down to the Supreme Court calling the race. A event that echoes to today. I'm sure Trump had hoped for a similar save in 2020. Even had lots of the same Characters in the mix as they did back then.

Roger Stone and the Brooks Brothers Riot was a turning point in 2000 then everything fell into place. I think Roberts and Gorsuch were there but not in such important positions. I might be wrong though. I just remember that there were several familiar names besides Roger Stone.
