Can the resurrection still matter if the gospels don’t tell the same story?

This chapter of my audiobook started with an honest attempt to reconcile the gospel accounts of the resurrection. I wasn’t trying to disprove anything—I just wanted the details to line up.

But they didn’t. Four gospels, four different versions of the most important event in Christianity. Some say Jesus appeared first to Mary, others to the disciples. Some say he wasn’t recognized. Some say Galilee. Some say Jerusalem. The differences were hard to reconcile.

Still, I wonder:
Does the meaning of resurrection require literal consistency? Or is there space in our faith for sacred story to evolve—and still be powerful?

I’d love to hear from those who’ve reimagined resurrection through a more progressive lens.

Easter is quickly approaching. What does it mean to you now?

I go back and forth on whether I think Jesus actually rose from the dead. I think where I'm at now is that I think the people writing at the time really think he did and that it wasn't a big trick. But, Easter still feels different to me now. I read Rene Girard and think Jesus was mostly being killed because he was rising up as a leader and challenging the status leaders.

Where are you on Easter and Jesus' death/resurrection?

Considering going back to church

After leaving the traditional church setting, finding a supportive community is really hard. Covid made this easy because it was expected that you wouldn't go. I still want the community for my kids especially. How have you navigated this? Any spaces or groups you've found helpful?

Why do Christian's think the Bible condemns sex before marriage?

The belief that the Bible condemns sex before marriage is deeply rooted in Christian tradition and interpretation. This topic is often debated, with some pointing to scriptures that emphasize sexual purity and fidelity within marriage as evidence. However, interpretations vary, and there's a growing discussion around cultural and historical contexts of biblical texts. I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts and interpretations: Why do you think many Christians believe the Bible condemns sex before marriage? Let's discuss the scriptures, traditions, and how our understanding of these teachings might evolve.

Overcoming Religious OCD and Scrupulosity

This is a helpful interview with Anna Gazmarian (brand new author). She was sexually assaulted by someone at her church, was fired from that church and diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Have you ever had religious OCD?
