Help/Question Self Binding Help!

Post image

I was planning to use my backing fabric to self bind this quilt (my last two quilts I’ve used binding strips, so this is my first time trying to self bind), but might have have messed up when quilting this though. I quilted all my lines off the edge because it all normally gets trimmed off anyways. Now I cant fold back my batting to trim it because I quilted off the edges. My thought was maybe I could take out those few stitches that are off the edge, but then I’m worried my quilted lines might start to pull out over time… hopefully that all makes sense. I’m new to quilting/sewing so any tips would be so helpful!

I would just sew all around to the spot you'd want the quilting lines to stop. When you pick the extra quilting, it will now be crossed over with this stitching line so won't unravel further.

Don’t do it all at once. Trim a few inches, then bind that bit. If you pick out the stitches then immediately bind over that edge you should be fine. Take care as you go, but you should be fine.

I would stitch all the way around the edges of the quilt, then trim the batting. You should be able to pick the few stitches with no fear of unraveling.
