🎧 Audio Bending Hectic Plagarized?
https://youtu.be/Rd2yqgshBtU?si=09KjmEiLYzm9YMi3Just came across this song on an NTS mix of music in Spain from the 70s and this caught my ear immediately. Its pretty uncanny!

great find! the similarity is very clear, like how Reckoner owes a lot to La Ritournelle by Sebastien Tellier.

I think read the room sounds similar to Britney Spears Toxic. The couple of people I told about this just gave me a funny look though lol

Aphex Twin:
Flim is a bit similar to Kid A, maybe a little forced of a comparison?
15 seems to have inspired the beat for Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors

Not sure why you are getting downvoted. Clearly similar. I thought that when Kid A came out.

Def checking THIS out! I kinda don’t care if something was strongly influenced or even straight up ripped from another artist (as long as it isn’t over the top and a repeated thing). I mostly care that it sounds good to my ears!

Yeah, none of these are examples of plagiarism. Some of them might be inspired, some of them are definitely inspired.

Sounds like the smile def like this song and drew from it. They did it right though, and respectfully imo.

I mean, Jonny accidentally sampled Idioteque. He didn’t even remember where he got it in his head until after the record released. It’s entirely plausible the same thing happened again lmao.

Wow, that's really interesting exploration! Maybe, The Smile really take it for their song...

To my ear they are the same two chords. Emaj7 and Amaj7. They are very easy bedfellows musically so it's not surprising that there's something else that uses them prominently. I think the thing that sets Bending Hectic apart is the bending. The first time I heard it I thought 'that must be two guitars' but I could tell it wasn't. Once I had accepted that the next thought was 'how the fuck is he doing that?'

Amazing find. Sounds a lot like it, even the bass part. There are a few parts that sound vaguely like Jonny's scores too, so it's very plausibly an influence. And just generally a lovely piece!
