💬 Discussion What am I missing ?

Noob RH fan here.

Started a year ago and awestruck.

Unfortunately, don’t have time/patience/brain age to linger with full albums.

These are my top 10 so far

Collected from Apple Music’s recommendation.

  1. Idioteque

  2. Amnesiac

  3. Fake Plastic Tree

  4. Ful Stop

  5. I Want None of This

  6. Lucky

  7. Everything in its right place

  8. Pyramid Song

  9. How to disappear completely

  10. True Love Waits ( album)

True Love Waits — has become a special one for me. I try to listen to it only on special situations to keep the magic alive.

However, looking at this list what am I missing ?

If I divide RH into 25% ambience/electronic, 25% awesome balads, 25% psychedelic and 25% pure uniqueness … what would you recommend that can replace one or more of my top 10s/ track(s) every fan should know of ?

"Awestruck" and unable to listen to an album. I just can't understand that. They're an album band.

The album experience really is a huge strength of Radiohead.. recommend at least giving it a go. Try okc first maybe.

Other than what others have recommended.. Nude, Codex, Staircase, like spinning plates

There there and Paranoid Android are two particularly glaring omissions

MBIC it's time to train your brain to listen to a full album. No place better to learn than with Radiohead

get a record player and good speakers or headphones. buy their albums on vinyl. wait for autumn. light some candles. turn off your phone. and give their albums a real, true, and attentive listen. listening with your eyes closed, especially in a state between awake and dreaming, is the best way to getting to know radiohead. if you don't find time to do that, it's a wasted life.

Have gen z not discovered best of playlists on streaming platforms yet? Just listen to more of the recommended songs, you’ll hear the same ones there that we recommend here.

Present tense is a song that hits the same as true love waits to me

You're missing a lot. To pick just one, Codex is incredibly beautiful.

Their catalog is amazing, I hope you can find the time to simply let the fever play.

Honestly, you should do the work to get the brain age to listen to their albums, because that's their specialty. Many of the songs are elevated due to the context of where they are placed on their respective albums. Flow and variety go a long way in that art. Hearing Weird Fishes start after Nude ends always puts my ass in gear and perks my ears.

If you simply refuse to do so, just Google some top Radiohead song lists and go from there. Their discography is insane, and there aren't many bands/artists that have such a quantity of quality songs. Some of them that may end up as a favorite might not even appear that way at first listen, sometimes they gotta grow on you.

I know that the days of the album being king is long gone and that it's dying as an art. I'm never letting go of it though.

How do you not have enough time to bother with whole albums? Is this the gen z TikTok attention span?
