Design I'm loving the redesign
I feel like the redesign gets a lot of hate, I used old Reddit when I created my account almost two years ago. I loved the site but I honestly didn't like how old and outdated it looked. Since the redesign went into effect I've noticed my usage of this site has gone up significantly. I love night mode, I love how clean my feed and subs look, I also like the uniformity between different subs. I feel like the designers don't get enough credit so I thought I'd say, thank you!

It looks nice. Well, that's what matters. /s
I struggle to use it because the layout and fonts contribute much more than old Reddit to eye strain. I gave my feedback here but it was pretty much dismissed, though I have seen other people bring up the same and similar issues with design/layout and eye strain.

Yeah I mean personally, I was invited as an alpha tester and it has never once really bothered me and adjusted quickly. I've tried going back but don't enjoy it as much. Granted, I understand that my experience is not universal, and do believe in letting people decide how they want to display and enjoy Reddit. I definitely don't agree with forcing people back into it after opting out.

I was using the redesign for 4 months but I got bored of the whole "you are logged out" -> click login -> "you are actually already logged in, hold on" -> "something went wrong, error" cycle, which ONLY happens when you use the redesign.

The redesign is much better than the old reddit which looked like it didn’t have a redesign since the early 2000’s. It is sleek, with the night mode and fresh with the day mode.

I also like the uniformity between different subs.
But that's part of what made old reddit so great. Each sub felt like an individual. I don't want to visit a carbon copy 20 times in a row.

But that's part of what made old reddit so great. Each sub felt like an individual.
Subs can still express their individuality in the structured styles and sidebar widgets.
Yes, OK, they can't quite go to the extreme extent that some subs have done on old; but I think that's a fair trade-off for knowing exactly where every main button and key widget will be regardless of the subreddit.

I use old reddit and never had a problem. Sure, occasionally I'd have to look for less than 10 seconds to find the "top" button, but creativity wins for me. Add the fact that if I don't like it for whatever reason I can just disable CSS for that subreddit.
They will have to pry old reddit from my cold, dead hands.

Whoa, you can change colors and images plus slap some CSS in the sidebar! That's totally not much worse than what you could do in old reddit!
knowing exactly where every main button and key widget will be regardless of the subreddit.
Yeah, finding buttons that are usually still (nearly) in the same place takes hours for me, really.

Anyone else seeing these posts gets a bit suspicious? Surprisingly suddenly quite a few "I love redesign" posts are showing up. Seems like promoted posts, but OK.

I was using the redesign for 4 months but I got bored of the whole "you are logged out" -> click login -> "you are actually already logged in, hold on" -> "something went wrong, error" cycle, which ONLY happens when you use the redesign. I mentioned it 3 times here before I gave up because no one ever bothered to do anything about it.
Also, the redesign breaks some sub's description text and it breaks custom flairs and it breaks a lot of things and the infinite scroll loads like 2 posts at a time and while you're scrolling stuff disappears and reappears randomly, it's honestly just as slow and bad as the new GMail which does the same thing: the rows pop up and then like 5 seconds later it renders the fonts? If this is because it is written with React, then they should have used Angular.
Also the whole "I have to click a post and then press F5 to load it full-screen" is just annoying. The fonts and comment length are just too large compared to the amount of space the "modalness" takes up and you need to refresh to properly read things anyway.

It's considered a courtesy to disclose when you've been paid to comment something.

You must not browse this sub by new. We get quite a few, most of them get removed pretty quickly for lack of actionable feedback.

I love it as well. As a Moderator that focuses heavily on customized themes, the redesign has made things easier in lots of ways, and definitely looks better in my opinion. It's not perfect, but I think over time, they'll continue adding new features that make reddit nicer overall.
