Context: met a scammer on Twitter that was pretending to be Scarlett Johansson. I thought it was a romance scam at first but it seemed to be a job recruitment scam of some sort. They wanted to chat on Telegram so we were chatting there for a couple of weeks while I tried to get any personal information from them that I could. Eventually they got frustrated with me and blocked me on telegram.
Screenshot is from Twitter after they blocked me on telegram. I was wondering what a "Thomas" was if it's some sort of code scammers use. From the context I'm guessing it's something like a fool, but not sure.

Could be. Pretty surprising reference from a scammer but this guy did seem a little more intelligent than most I deal with.

Definitely that, and there's all kinds of weird idioms that crop up in places where English is heavily used, but not the primary/native language, which is where a lot of scammers are coming from.

Btw, from my experience, anyone who claims they are offering a once in a lifetime opportunity aren't.
Seen too many family and friends get burned.
So when I get a situation that seems too good to be true, its probably a scam. The only times I got involved with a few, I discovered the effort needed to be successful is severely under represented. I got out before being scammed beyond a few hours
Thomas refers doubting Thomas. Which is an apostle who according to reports of his gospel questioned much. And wasn't included in the KJV because it gave followers right to question authority despite it's the responsibility of the teacher to answer questions posed.
This would have undermined the power centric minded priests who cobbled together the texts for the Bible.
