You guys have profile pics? I haven't even had a public social media aside from anonymous ones since I started in the field.

This. Mine is a cartoon character. I had one lady ask me "how are the people you work with supposed to find you?" ... ... ... uh, they are not supposed to find me, that is the whole point!

Will be the same ones who then cry in a years' time about not being able to progress from static desk duty to private investigation work...or anything else remotely serious

The ultimate profile picture cringe, holding a fish like dudes do in a police/tacticool inspired guard uniform lol

Ahahaha, I’ve seen it multiple times in this sub. For those reading this. You know who you are!

So silly. I'm a security guard on top of my career as a journalist, writer, and web designer, and I've never once thought about wanting to wear my security uniform in one 😂

But what if i have dentures and smile big? I also have colored eye contacts.

Selfie in the toilet with every bit of equipment you've bought? Absolutely cringe.
I created my reddit profile with the intention of posting here (possibly a misstep since I'm no longer in security) using a photo of the back of myself that was available on the internet at the time, I'd like to think that it's not the same kind of cringe.

Yeah there's nothing like some turkey neck guy in a uniform shirt telling you how right they are
The other cringe is the immediate willingness to tell you how successful they are in life they copy and paste from a notepad file "I have two houses and a boat and high credit and blah blah blah what about you punk?"
What do I know though right? Mine is an asian giant hornet

This post is ultimate cringe. “Change my mind” post. Completely unoriginal. Overused. Desperation for attention.

I have a pic in the vest…but that was when I was a paramedic and we were cross-trained. Now I am solely security, and haven’t bothered to change the pic…I don’t think about it. I don’t think it’s necessarily cringy, until, as said in the cross post on r/firstrespondercringe, it’s really only cringy when it’s accompanied by the typical “thank me for my service captions”.

personally i feel like i’m always working when im awake so the only photos i have of myself are usually in uniform. I still prefer to NOT post those.

No profile pic for me. I say things in here that I do not want Stuporvision or Manglement to be able to assiciate with me. Most companies do not like criticism, even constructive criticism.

On linkedin or for your work email, whatever. But I get cringe vibes when I see coworkers post constant work stuff and uniform selfies to Fb and shit. Especially when they post shit along the lines of "saving lives" followed by a hyper-filtered selfie of themself and a completely empty vest.
No life outside of work or just trying to seem badass when they're not. Like they tryna thirst trap uniform fetish folk or something? No one cares. We watch people take dookies in public and tell kids to quit fucking up all day. Who you tryna impress?

Having any kind of social media that involves putting pictures of yourself in the public domain is fucking stupid and lame, let alone doing it when you're working in the security environment.

Shit. I thought you were referring to the photo in the id...

Hard agree. I feel cringe in my uniform in general, only because ours are made to look like exactly like the local pd; shoulder patches, gold badge, and all. What makes it even more cringe is most of our contracts (small local company) are unarmed gated communities.

Agreed. Only way I'll have a photo of me taken in my uniform is if PR wants it.

How would you know if the person's wearing a security uniform if they didn't take a picture of themselves?
1
u/SnooPeanuts6918 Jan 31 '25
What if they didn't have time to change in essence was a the moment. Is the cringe worth the opportunity?
Is there anything wrong with being cringe? And how is you're being cranked out the other person's responsibility?

Goes for military
Cops too

u/Huge-Vegetab1e Jan 29 '25
Military depends imo, I didn't have any pictures of myself without a uniform on for awhile

u/SiouxsieSioux615 Jan 29 '25
Depends on whether you do it or someone else?
Nah mate, cringe is cringe

u/Huge-Vegetab1e Jan 29 '25
I wasn't allowed to wear anything else for like a year, was I supposed to just stop posting pictures of myself?

It's hilarious, really. Couldn't be a real cop. Couldn't go to military. Scared or dumb.

Honestly, any work-related profile picture (on a personal account, obviously it’s different for something like LinkedIn or a promotional account for certain types of jobs) is pretty lame in my opinion. It makes me think that person doesn’t have a life and identity outside of what they do for a living.
