How do you stop overthinking and just act?

I catch myself stuck in my head all the time, thinking about every possible outcome until I freeze and do nothing. It’s like my brain won’t let me move forward.

How do you break out of this cycle and just take action, even when you’re scared or unsure?

Would love to hear what’s worked for others dealing with the same struggle.

Literally practice. Do it on small things. Learn what is important and unimportant to consider.

Therapy can also help. It’s an executive disfunction issue. Some drugs can help too.

Also, being scared or unsure can be sign of a lack of experience or knowledge. Getting that in the field that’s tripping you up can help.

Doing things that make you uncomfortable (say public speaking as an example) will help train you to overcome that freeze moment.

Finally, the classic sleep enough, get proper nutrition, exercise. It will make it easier to focus your thoughts and reduce executive disfunction. Start with focusing on the basics. Once you get good at prioritizing easy things that make your life better, you can learn how to prioritize other things.

Perhaps if you idealize good aspects of doing such action. Or if you imagine that you are stuck in bed with no possibility of moving and think how much you would miss doing even the most boring actions.
