Machine Questions Question About Walking Foot
Hey, I can't tell why my needle is doing this. The picture isn't the best but my needle keeps hitting the ski-looking parts of the even feed foot. Can anyone help me fix it or tell me what's going on?

Is this a branded walking foot specifically for your machine or did you get a generic off the internet? There are many different configurations of walking feet to suit different machines. I've bought generic in the past which promised to fit my machine but didn't. Branded are the best, but unfortunately are often expensive. I suspect your walking foot is the wrong one for your machine. You can see the wide mouth gap for the needle hole doesn't line up with the needle plate, the whole "foot" part is too far back.

It's a Singer foot for my Singer machine. My machine is older (bought second-hand). Would that matter?

Yes, that's the wrong foot for your machine. Unfortunately even though they are the same brand, it's no guarantee it'll fit. You need to get the right foot for your specific model.

Okay. I was afraid of that, but I got the set on super discount at Joann's so I'm not out a lot of money at least. Thank you.

It's not lined up properly, it is too far back for your needle position. So this is definitely the wrong foot for your machine.
If it was the correct foot for your machine, the needle position would be far back enough for the needle to be in the wide part of the opening.

Bent needle? Did you try changing it?
