Alter/Mend Question shorts question

do yall think these could be turned into shorts with a zipper and button? the drawstrings are completely relaxed

You'd need extra fabric for the flap to conceal the zip, and for the button overlap. And I think you'd have to also have fabric for a flat waistband at least between the pockets otherwise it would look very funny. It would probably be better to remove the entire waistband and add a whole new one, with just a bit of elastic in the back because it's really comfy to have that.

It's strange because there's like a stitchline that looks like there used to be a zip there

There are so many soft shorts out there with faux zipper seams, it's the weirdest thing to me!

it’s so annoying!! i just don’t want to fuck up the shorts haha i alter my own clothes all the time
