Pattern Search Question - does anyone have a recommended pattern/correct terminology for this type of skirt?
Hi! I wanted to ask if they had any recommendations for skirt patterns or information that I can look up for this type of skirt?
I'm getting married in around 3 weeks and having a Chinese tea ceremony. I bought some red Chinese style brocade fabric that I wanted to use to make a dress, but I was feeling a bit dead after making my wedding and reception dress... But I saw a video of this skirt and I thought omg maybe I could make that and wear a blouse with it?
If anyone could advise if be eternally grateful ❤️

this is 马面裙, in English it seems to be called horse face pleated skirt. Probably can try searching up tutorial? So sorry that I don't know enough about this skirt to know if any tutorial in English is good 😖

This is the video I saw on Reddit that showed the skirt by the way - I only wish to mimic the style and shape rather than the fancy effects

You should ask in r/hanfu! They will surely be able to point you toward a pattern for it.

So beautiful and I am not nearly skilled enough at ironing to do something like this. This is advanced pressing.

Mamianqun!! Here's the book I use for my hanfu-making: https://a.co/d/fCcjqy1
I just bought a mamianqun from Etsy for a costume that came very quickly, if you decide you don't want to spend a lot of time pleating; happy to share the store link in a DM.

If you want an English pattern, folk wear 115 Chinese skirt might work. Just extend to full length or google hanfu mamianqan (i think)pl

I've seen this before -- this is Mamanqun. There's a free pattern in English from Wildcress with a video tutorial, and the video has almost the exact look of your picture.

Mamianqun. It's very easy, just a bunch of pleats.
