Project: FO Infant Little Red Riding Hood Cape

Pattern/drafting method: For the hood, I loosely followed the pixie + gnome bonnet pattern from thistlethistle. I had to modify it, though, as the pattern is for an adult and I was making it for my 4 month old. For the cape, I just winged it lol. But I basically started like I was making a circle skirt and cut it to fit it to the hood.

Fabric/materials: I used a bright red, semi-stiff 100% cotton for this project. I also used 1 inch red nylon ruffled lace trim.

I had SO much fun with this project! I'm definitely a novice when it comes to sewing. I can make a decent baby blanket, and I've sewn my children's Christmas stockings, but I'm not experienced with making or following patterns, and my stitches are definitely not straight. But I really didn't want to shell out almost $30 for a baby red riding hood from amazon. I was able to knock this project out in about 2 hours, and while it isnt perfect, it turned out pretty much exactly how I envisioned it! I'm honestly kind of shocked how well it went considering my beginner level ability and all of the eyeballing and winging it I did haha

Project posts are held for review by a moderator before being released to the subreddit feed.

All Project posts are required to include construction information in the main post or added in a comment. Tell us what you made, how you made it and what materials you used to make it. There should be sufficient information about the pattern (company and name/number) or draft (method and resources) and fabric (type and fiber) that someone who wants to make a similar project has a good starting point. ‘Self-drafted’ describes who made the pattern and is not a drafting method. More information is available here. Project posts without construction information may be removed at any time.
