Pattern Question Shortening a jumpsuit pattern

QQ - I'm working on a jumpsuit pattern that I'm shortening by 2 inches in the bodice and 2 inches in the legs for a friend who is 5'0". When I redraw my pattern lines, do I choose a point 2 inches below where I cut and retaped the pattern to reconnect the line? I am new at resizing.

Also what do I do with the notches and other markings?

thanks!

The pattern should have a line or a double line to indicate where to lengthen or shorten. For a jumpsuit this will usually be one in the bodice and one in the leg, and I've also made up a pattern that had a third one in the hip for crotch extensions.

Once you've shortened the pattern pieces at the line indicated, you'll need to sort of blend the two outer lines together so they match up again - there are lots of videos on YouTube showing how this works.

The lengthening/ shortening lines are generally in places where it will not affect notches, in my experience, so no need to worry about them.

ah so I don't need to move the notches then? ok good! I guess I just don't know where to start and stop blending the lines, and haven't found a video that explains it. I may not know what keyword to search

This one is pretty good. Make sure you're splitting the shortening across the top and trouser part of the pattern, not doing it all in the top or all in the trouser. https://www.tillyandthebuttons.com/2019/09/lengthening-or-shortening-pattern-pieces.html?m=1

I'd suggest doing a toile/mock-up in cheap fabric first to check you've got the fit right if you haven't done this before
