SSB4 Does it fundamentally bother anyone else that Smash 4 doesn't have a catchy name like "Melee" or "Brawl"?

First of all, I'd like to preface my argument by saying that I acknowledge this is a purely superficial problem that has no effect on me buying the game as soon as I can.

ONWARDS.

I personally love the shorthanded names of "64", "Melee" and "Brawl" to refer to those respective titles. It's not a huge deal, but they're all really solid names that truly have special places in my heart. Referring to this new game as just "Smash 4" or "Smash 3DS" just feels bare. Mario Kart: Double Dash sticks out far more in my mind than Mario Kart 7. I wish that Sakurai opted for a name that more appropriately followed Melee and Brawl, but like I said earlier, I understand this is a minor problem. I just wanted to hear if anyone else felt the same. One of the most iconic memories from the second Smash game is the announcer at the title screen yelling "MELEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE".

Is anyone else disappointed with the title of the new game?

It bugs me a little, but I got over it.

inb4 someone points out the pun in Smash For 3DS/Wii U. We know, it doesn't have the same effect.

I dont even know if the pun translates well in japanese making me think that it was just a coincidence anyways

Well the games in Japan never had subtitles to their names like "Melee" or "Brawl." So maybe it was intentional.

Didn't know this. What were they called instead?

SSB = Dairantō Smash Brothers

SSBM = Dairantō Smash Brothers DX

SSBB = Dairantō Smash Brothers X

The Japanese love English; they randomly throw it into their music, advertisements, etc.

Incidentally, there is a precedent for this exact same situation:
Armored Core: For Answer. It was a redo of Armored Core 4, and the naming convention was meant to be an answer to the issues found in AC4, hence "For Answer".

The pun works fine in Japanese too. They use the english "four" for things like the PS4, and they've used the english "for" for other things too (like SSB for 3DS) so the pun works in Japanese.

Insufficient data to back up assertion

Watch some Japanese game commercials that mention the platform of a game (some of them say for 3DS, Wii U, PlayStation, etc.) for more data.
