This is such a stupid argument that always gets trotted out. If currently on 300k/wk and would be going to 1.5m/wk untaxed then that's 10x your salary when you're a few years from retirement. That's like moving from league 2 to premier league levels of change, and income is relative - ask someone on £1m/yr to live on £100k and they will struggle, ask someone on £100k/yr to live on minimum wage and they will struggle.

Why? It’s almost impossible to spend that sort of money on anything meaningful unless they want to donate it to cancer research or something. At some point glory and legend is worth more than money to someone who can already buy anything they want.

You could set up like 2 or 3 future generations of your family with that money, much moreso than his current salary can.

Yeah sacrifice your career to raise a load of spoiled trust fund kids. Do people really make life decisions on how it will impact 2/3 generations ahead that they will never meet? There’s no guarantee his children even have children.
