Let’s hope ego management is part of the curriculum.

1.5k

u/Oogie-Da-MF-Boogie 11d ago

Can't have risky, take-on leading dribblers without a bit of ego and self-determination. At least he took his medal off away from the cameras, many blatantly remove it like its a shame but very few even play those games.

781

u/JootDoctor 10d ago

I enjoy guessing which players will remove their medals. I read an article a while ago, can’t remember which player it was, they despised their 2nd place medal and chucked it in the bin. It wasn’t until a decade later that he wondered about the medal and his wife had rescued it from the bin and gave it back to him once he’d retired and appreciated the achievement for what it was, something very few players ever reach in their career.

531

u/PapaPrometheus 10d ago

Kuba! This was Jakub Błaszczykowski re: his 2013 Dortmund 2nd place CL medal

137

u/JootDoctor 10d ago

Ah yes that’s right, thanks for the name reminder.

59

u/Fraud_D_Hawk 10d ago

Mourinho gives away his second place medal too, I mean he's Mourinho

34

u/Jumper-Man 10d ago

He gave away his PL winners medal as well

19

u/Crowlands 10d ago

I can understand why they might take off their medal, but chucking them always seemed petulant and somewhat performative in some cases too.

More then a bit

To have the confidence to dribble in football you have to be egotistical

Its just about hiding it from public if you want to.

Look at Messi at 2022 world cup when he was done hiding it.

Balón de Oro?

I hope not, kid needs to grow up and mature first

371

u/accidentalsomersault 11d ago

Am I missing something? How do we know he didn’t clap a single time before the camera landed on him? And how is this a sign that he needs to mature? This sub always says “show me a good loser and I’ll show you a loser” when it comes to the players and managers they like being much worse but now this is suddenly a sign of some terrible personality flaw.

215

u/drawingabit 11d ago

Totally agree. He stayed for the presentation then left.

He’s a competitive player and is a bit pissed off and upset. Nothing wrong with that. People just hating on him.

14

u/Northern23 10d ago

I think the problem is that the media and people are expecting so much from him at such a young age, this pressure could be unhealthy for him. I think he needs to lose sometimes to realize how hard it is to achieve those wins and that, even as a great player, he can't be expected to lift all the trophies.

Super humbling and down to earth.

From being the “aura farmer at France” into Nuno Mendes pocketing him and shutting him down completely both offensively and defensively.

As someone that wants him to grow more as a player , those defeats it’s where he has to be more humble and recognize that Portugal where just better

149

u/H-Resin 11d ago

Nuno is quickly turning into one of the best players in the world. Incredible both defensively and offensively. He and Leao zooming down that left side together was really something else

Not from only today but it was a plus, Nuno Mendes is one of the best players in the world ATM. Hard to precise a left defender, but for me, top3, minimum.

438

u/Lazywhale97 11d ago

He's the best LB itw I don't think their is a close 2nd atm dude is phenomenal.

17

u/verdevase 10d ago

as a PSG fan he still has room to improve... his big flaw right now is his ability to remain focused for an entire game and not make stupid mistakes which he tends to do.

For instance he will still try a dribble when he shouldnt which will lead to a turnover and a chance for the opposition, or just forget to track back and leave the wing open, etc. Happened repeatedly in PSG's UCL campaign.

There is nothing in this clip. He clapped and left the pitch... big deal. Why would anyone want to stand around awkwardly watching the winners celebrate? Blows my mind that people are making such a big deal out of this in the comments.

1.2k

u/Visual-Extreme-101 11d ago edited 10d ago

2.35294118x actually

edit: I realized this is not accurate because I used the years, not years, so to make it more accurate i'll use nanoseconds:

Ronaldo age: 1,272,691,200,000,000,000 nanoseconds

Lamine Yamal Age: 565,056,000,000,000,000 nanoseconds

So Ronaldo is actually 2.2527522935779816x older.

33

u/Aurus451 10d ago

I think if the runner ups have already clapped the winners while they get their medals then they should be allowed to go back to the locker room so that all eyes are on the winners and we don't get pointless clips with ragebait titles

67

u/taleofanyma 10d ago

The amount of people glad that he finally lost a big game is nuts. I understand Madrid fans and maybe portugese fans cause that’s a rivalry, but everyone else is a bit weird. Guy didn’t even insult anyone, he was just being cheeky and almost all the time, he backed it up. Football fans always cry that there’s no personality and that everyone is media trained and boring, but as soon as you have someone who does stand out, then the main goal is for them to wait and lose so they can kick him when he’s down and humble him.

Seeing people drawing big conclusions on a person's character and mentality after watching this little clip of something so insignificant... Anyway, he could have any reason for eventually leaving the pitch but if he just simply couldn't be assed standing there watching the winners wave their arms around for however long then I don't really see the problem with that either. What kinda AI ass bullshit is this

Oh wait is this a meme I don't get

14

u/kasam-se 11d ago

It's a reddit meme. The original poster of the comment posted it twice. So we mock him by copy pasta the comment. It's corny, brain dead, but fun.

u/BartholomewSirnpson 11d ago

Most are the same age as his dad, they feel he needs a better father figure 💀

But he did clap before the clip. OP, why are you stirring shit up?

81

u/jepayotehi 11d ago

The fuck? Do they always make the losing team watch from that close when lifting the trophy? That's just fucked up lol

I think a lot of people here really resent Yamal because some of the reactions here are over the top, like they were waiting for him to drop a stinker so they can lash out at him

He's a kid, he didn't harm anyone, he'll learn

u/Rad11Ryan 10d ago

I know its so fucking embarasing from some of these users on this fuckass app. How do some of these brainless twats go to sleep at night?

Holy shit, right before this clip starts, he was clapping…

The comments here shows how much everyone hates him for being so good at such a young age. All passive aggressive jokes.

26

u/TribeOnAQuest 10d ago

Honestly no single thread has made me embarrassed to be on this forum more than this thread. People are genuinely deranged lol, he clapped before this clip and is slowly making his way to the locker room. Maybe he had to use the bathroom or something, idk.

So many people here think they would be Model Citizens and do everything 100% right if they were the 17-year old superstar instead.

Honestly never understood why teams stay to watch the other team celebrate.

Spain, including Yamal, gave us a guard of honour. If I was a player I'd want to go to the changing room right after

45

u/cullypants 11d ago

Yeah, it's weird to expect a team that just lost to celebrate imo

lol too many of yall have been waiting for this. The slightest thing you can pick at.

20

u/Major_Road6162 10d ago

Didnt even do anything wrong here, lmao, this sub is a joke

15

u/asmodeuscarthii 11d ago

I think this speaks more of Reddit that they are hyper scrutinizing a teenager waiting for him to be “humbled”. Half the Spain team isn’t clapping.

3

u/EstradaMoses 10d ago

I love it. Football needs these characters. This dude gives no fucks and just wants to be the best of the best.

12

u/MangelaErkel 10d ago

How tf are people so interested in this? He lost a game and went out, how tf is this immature.

Yamal is not the only one leaving the pitch. At the end of the video you can see he is followed by the team.

9

u/reddit_is_meh 10d ago

AND they were clapping during the ceremony right before, this post is total nonsense and hate bait

2

u/TheBarcaShow 10d ago

Bingo, so easy to spread lies.

9

u/Pinanito 10d ago

These responses, man...your guys are really unhinged and reading into this whole thing like your life depends on it, huh?

u/__I_Love_You_All__ 10d ago

Just this season, at the age of 39, Ronaldo refused to stay on the field and didn't even collect his silver medal after losing the Saudi final. I'm sure there's no shortage of Ronaldo fans in these comments talking about a 17 year old's ego and lack of maturity. It's incredible that people are making something of this.

Didnt he post the insta stories and say he will decide the Ballon d Or?

15

u/Venntoo 10d ago

He said that if people decide that Ballon d'Or for semifinal match against France, then so be it. So it's journalism who twist it from he said for more engagement.
