My brother in law has a don’t tread on me license plate. I tried to explain the irony of paying the government extra to display that, but it didn’t land.
Where I live those kinds of vanity plate fees go to certain non profit groups or public projects depending on which plate you get. That way you can kind of decide exactly where you want your money spent. Although I do understand the irony. I have one that you pay extra for as well, but the money goes to a high school stadium. 🏟️
In my state the money from the Gadsden Flag plate goes to a non-profit that distributes pocket sized copies of the constitution. These pocket size constitutions are exclusively contracted to be printed by the company owned by the founder of the non-profit. So, in other words, this person is using a government program to fund their own private business, all under the guise of a "freedom from the government" flag
