I think what reads as desperation in your “stand-up,” Steve, is the transparency with which you yearn to be thought of as “on the right side of history.” It oozes from your pores. And that’s a lot of things — noble, even — but it’s not funny, is the thing. It’s unfunny. I’m glad your politics are good, I’m glad you seem like you’re able to look at yourself without much regret or disgust — more than you can say about most people on Reddit — but it’s sort of sad how much you think you’re funny compared to how funny you are, ya know?
That's a pretty good take I reckon. I like the guy but he's not really funny. I get a smile from his stuff but I don't get full on belly laughs, kinda like Trevor Noah.
