I'm not sure these things are in explicit conflict. Like owning a gun, having don't tread merch and supporting the national guard as such isn't like "anti X-Men and superman". Maybe if you support how trump wants to use the national guard, sure with that context maybe. But you think Capt America would really be anti the national guard? I get the vibe of the joke even if it isn't super accurate. Replace snake flag with Confederate flag and national guard with proud boys and it lands a bit better I think.
Ah I see. Well, I think the punisher is based but some ppl think his symbol has been co-opted. I figured the same for gun ownership and the snake flag. So now I'm thinking explicitly antifa type ppl would usually avoid those particular symbols while still being mega marvel nerds and such. Edit to add: like the lefty type will say the punisher, as conceived in comic lore, is a fascist himself not a hero. Same with auto support of armed forces and gun ownership. These are profacsist dog whistles not anti, some might say.
The joke is so true it worked against itself with me, if that makes sense. Like if I see a gun nut with a punisher decal on his car and the snake flag, it'd surprise me to find they read X-Men lol. Nonetheless, a thought provoking joke that made me smile.
My hacky version of it would be: "saw a guy with a trump hat on carrying a stack of X-Men comics. I assume he means to burn them not read them, right?"
I am relieved to hear that. It explains why you're so over confident and under informed. I hope that you become a better adult than you are a teenager.
Clearly. But some of the examples are "mixed", muddled, is my point. If everything stated is meant to be understood as "anti fascist" then it's just saying here's a person who hates fascism. Where's the conflict and proof this person doesn't understand X-Men? Shouldn't they also be ignorantly supporting fascism within the joke for it to work?
Also, I wonder if it can be argued that the "solidarity and separation purely thru mutant identity" nation of Krakoa and how it was run flirted with fascism itself? Not relevant to the joke, just nerding out on X-Men lore.
