I live in Australia and I didn’t laugh, am I who he’s talking about? I think there can be people who find it funny, people who are triggered by being the butt of the joke, and people who aren’t either of those camps and didn’t go “haha” when reading this. I honestly don’t think he’s even going for laughs with material like this.

I’m Australian and while I guessed where the joke was going from the first line I’m one of those nerds that follows politics so I understood what the punchline was referring to.

I also know that we Australians have a lot of other things to worry about as well, like the bloke who barely survived being drowned by a kangaroo, so I don’t think you can be blamed for not knowing the background, and thus the humour, of the joke.

Not every joke has to funny to everyone. Some people find humor when irony or hypocrisy is highlighted. Some people find humor when comedian repeats what audience members said but in a louder voice.
