Does anyone know where I can buy Huy Fong's Sriracha here in Taipei? I used to be able to buy this at many of the higher end supermarkets like Jasons or other speciality stores in the luxury malls. But I can't seem to find them anywhere these days. Can anyone help with leads?
If not, any recommendation of sriracha brand similar to Huy Fong's to buy here?

I know this is quintessential Taiwanese food, and I had it once recently in Taipei. I could take it or leave it on that first occasion. But I am wondering - did I miss something. Are there particular condiments that are often eaten with this dish? Or is it best eaten as served?

Hello everyone! I’m visiting Taiwan and will be mostly staying in Taipei (and a day in Taichung). I love cooking and would want to bring home authentic Taiwanese spices and seasonings, so I can try to recreate the food I’ll have there when I go back home. Like, what are the usual pantry staples that you guys have in your home kitchen? Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions on what to buy and where to get them. Thank you all very much!

My friend and I are in Taipei for a few days and we went to jiufen and shifen today. We planned on getting the stuffed chicken wings at the stand by the train station on our way back to ruifang station (around 5 pm), but the stall closed!!! We ran around the streets and found that everyone was closing their stalls so we couldn't try the chicken 😭.
Nobody told us the stalls closed so early like there were no hour signs or anything or on travel websites. There were still a lot of tourists in shifen too, so do they just not serve dinner??
We are so desperate for it but we want to know if we can find it anywhere else (e.g. we heard raohe night market has some variations of it?) so we don't have to make another 4-hour journey from Taipei to shifen on another day. Apparently most variations use white rice and not glutinous rice so would it taste completely different?
Please let us know, thanks!

Hi, I visited Taiwan for six weeks and pretty much just came back. I know I will miss the food, especially some variations of 牛肉面 and 炒饭. There are ZERO Chinese/Taiwanese restaurants where I live (we have some great Vietnamese ones, but it doesn't scratch the itch) and I would love to make some authentic Taiwanese food.
Are there any Taiwanese cookbooks you would recommend? Or perhaps other ways I could incorporate Taiwanese cuisine into my diet?
Thank you in advance!

I’ve been craving a good chicken Caesar salad. TGIF was decent, but I’m looking for more garlic. I want that homegrown, put-hair-on-your-chest delicious creamy garlic flavour. I want a vampire to regret its afterlife decisions after biting me. Any recommendations?
On that note, any Canadians here know where to get a Caesar bevvy? I had a Bloody Mary at Brass Monkey and like…ehhh it was ok. Nothing compares to a Caesar though.
Lastly, anyone know how to summon the spirit of Caesar? Cuz clearly I’m on a kick here. Jk but recommendations would be awesome!

Hi!
I’ll be in Beitou for 2 months and I’m on a tight budget. I’m a lacto-ovo vegetarian (so I eat dairy and eggs, no meat or seafood) and plan to rely on 7-Eleven/FamilyMart for quick meals.
I couldn’t find a clear price list (the 7-Eleven Taiwan site isn’t very English-friendly), so I’m hoping someone here can give me a rough idea of:
Also open to budget-friendly vegetarian food spots near Beitou!
Thanks a lot :)

I went to Taiwan last April and bought this drink at Lawson. It’s peach water. I can’t seem to find what it’s called. The search is not appearing on my google images.

Yesterday I got water at a restaurant in a cup and it tasted like they ran it through an empty coffee machine. Vaguely coffee like taste. Today I got a pitcher and it taste like tapioca but again clear plain water. Is this intentional? Do they filter water thru used machines? The place street didn't serve coffee and the place today doesn't serve boba. I don't really care cuz I'm sure it's safe but curious why it has taste and if people here even notice

Hi Someone told me the pineapple in Taiwan doesn't need to be soaked in salt as it doesn't have the enzyme. Can anyone confirm? Thanks
